Must Watch: Native-American elder taunted by racist MAGA-hat wearing teens, speaks and cries for America, the country he defended and sacrificed and wore the uniform for. It is people like Nathan Phillips who make America great.
Thank you for your dignity, sir.
Thank you Nathan Phillips for showing the world yesterday what tolerance and resilience look like. In the face of ignorance and intimidation, you reminded us that the song cannot stop, and our prayers for our people will never stop.
Shameful.
A group of MAGA hat wearing youths taunted an elder singing and playing a ceremonial drum at yesterday's #IndigenousPeoplesMarch. This is the face of Trump's America: proud, obnoxious racism and disrespect.
#NativeAmericanHeritageMonth: History, no matter how far away it seems, still affects our fellow Indigenous communities. Be thankful & educate yourselves concerning the history of America and use this time as an important first step to healing our land & our nation. #NAHM18
Lisa Robbins, our amazing American Projects Fellow, recently traveled to Flint, Michigan for the ongoing filming of the documentary "A Hand Through The Smoke."
As part of a collaboration between Flint and the Navajo Nation, two communities who suffer from the same water issues, the Youth Quartet from the Flint Institute of Music played Lisa's musical composition.
Lisa was also able to share the Diné culture, history, stories on how significant water is, and the affects uranium mining has had on Navajo water sources.
We are so proud and honored to call her a member of our team 💙
I had the privilege of seeing these Native-led organizations in action this weekend. If you want to join their fight to end Native voter suppression, consider making a donation to:

Both #NavajoNation & #Flint suffer from water issues. To build a bridge between the communities my composition was played by the youth quartet. I shared the Diné culture & history on how significant water is &the affects #UraniumMining on Navajo had affected our #water sources.
