Please retweet and spread knowledge that these babies CAN survive & thrive when given a chance. It is crucial for parents to receive accurate, up-to-date info!
As we celebrate MLK day it is important to note that extremely significant racial disparities still exist in maternal and infant healthcare. WOC are 50% more likely to face preterm birth. Change requires awareness and awareness requires enough people standing up for what’s right.
⚠️ Trigger Warning ⚠️
Lahmaia was born at 22 weeks 0 days weighing 14.5 oz (the exact size of cofounder Kayla’s daughter Luna.) Her mama, April, begged for interventions as Lahmaia fought for over 3.5 hrs without help. April was never told a hospital 1 hr away helps at 22 weeks.
@dkirch888 @sampentz @TrashPandaDO @leon_metlay For reference, Iowa now has 22 weeker survival rates of greater than 60%. USA in Mobile, Alabama 70%. With very good NDI outcomes.
@TrashPandaDO @sampentz @leon_metlay@dkirch888 Moderate to severe is a HUGE range. My son was mod/severe for motor skills Bc he used a hand rail to climb stairs and couldn’t jump on one foot at 2 years old.
@total_vexation Well that’s fine, if you get cancer you can refuse treatment. That doesn’t mean parents should be denied the chance to save their babies.
@total_vexation You feel it’s wrong to save the lives of children? Do you feel medial intervention is okay for adults? Or are babies the only issue here? Totally confused.
