Let's start with KRA powers.

Proposal: The government wanted to give KRA more powers to freeze taxpayers' accounts and seize assets.

MPs rejected the proposal, saying it could give the taxman too much power over taxpayers.

Decision: KRA will not get these extra powers under the Finance Bill 2026.

The current law remains, which limits KRA's ability to take such actions without following existing legal procedures.
