@GabrielScally Public health was bypassed back in March by the insane decision to downgrade Covid from a notifiable disease. Cannot understand why they didn't kick up a huge stink over it. That was their crucial failing in my view.
Was it Public Health England who skipped 5 Covid-Cobra meetings?
Was it Public Health England who advised handshaking when Milan locked down?
Was it Public Health England who allowed mass events in late March?
Was it Public Health England who trashed lockdown by backing Cummings?
@christopherhope@lewis_goodall@Telegraph Head of Robert Koch Institute is a Professor of Microbiology and Epidemiology, not some failed boss of telecommunications company fined for huge data breach ala Dido Harding. If Gov want to emulate RKI then apt appropriate head not some Tory party stooge. Won’t hold my breath.
@Femi_Sorry In Germany (which lags far behind the UK in school digitalisation) all vital exams took place and all pupils got some teaching online while schools closed. Yes there were inequalities, which schools worked hard to address. UK govt was in denial far too long and didn't even try!
@campbellclaret@BorisJohnson Agreed. Exams should simply have been held with additional spacing in the otherwise empty schools, not only giving students a sense of purpose and reason to stay focused durung lockdown but also averting this sadly predictable fiasco.
Would politicians lie to us if they knew that they would risk severe punishment for lying? I think they would be much more truthful.
We need legislation that specifically regulates conduct of politicians. Politician liars need to go to prison.
@chrischirp If pubs are allowed to open at all its a fudge, not a lockdown. We've been here before. Not having the guts to impose stringent measures for a short period of time just prolongs the problem and makes it harder to contain and control.
50 million face masks bought by the government in April won't be used in the NHS due to safety concerns. But that's only half of the story of the government's PPE contract...

The UK should mark the 75th anniversary of the bombing of #Hiroshima with a pledge to sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons
And scrap #Trident at the same time #NeverAgain

Please stop asking for me to name the @Conservatives MP rape suspect, the victim deserves justice. What I can say is @Jacob_Rees_Mogg & @Mark_Spencer knew four weeks ago & 'off the record' @BorisJohnson was informed as to the MP as he is well known in Westminister. #coverup ↓
