Macam mana nak bina "Deep Life"?
Kalau siapa yang kenal dengan Cal Newport, beliau terkenal dengan idea "Deep Work" dan melalui podcast beliau, ada lagi satu idea berkenaan "Deep Life".
Ada 4 kategori utama untuk bina "Deep Life"
1. Craft

Most of you don't really want it
You're average
You listen to podcasts...
Read all the books..
But you don't take the most important step
ACTION
One day you'll be on your death bed
And realize you didn't do shit
Let that be your motivator
" What should you do if you're young and ambitious but don't know what to work on? What you should not do is drift along passively, assuming the problem will solve itself. You need to take action. But there is no systematic procedure you can follow. When you read biographies of people who've done great work, it's remarkable how much luck is involved. They discover what to work on as a result of a chance meeting, or by reading a book they happen to pick up. So you need to make yourself a big target for luck, and the way to do that is to be curious. Try lots of things, meet lots of people, read lots of books, ask lots of questions.
When in doubt, optimize for interestingness." - Paul Graham (https://t.co/0h52UX1SrQ?)
There are quite a number questions that are adjacent to this, where OP are uncertain over which path should they take given a set of choices.
Frankly speaking - I can never, with full certainty, be able to provide the right advice to any of them. Again, this is mostly due to the lack of context.
So instead of providing a straight answer (to this OP and a few others), perhaps this time around I'll talk a bit about my decision making framework.
1. Knowing what you love
Before even deciding anything, perhaps ask yourself - what exactly would you enjoy doing day in and day out without getting bored, heck you would even do it for free. Knowing what you're passionate with is the first step to understanding what actually gives you energy.
2. Maximizing your options
When in doubt, choose the path that may lead you to many others as opposed to a single lane. Having options allow you to have better control of your life, and in turn, lesser stress.
3. Choosing growth potential
Growth potential can be interpreted in many ways - emerging technology, up and coming industry or a growing company. Whatever this may be, pick the path that allows you to maximize your opportunity for learning and advancement.
4. Regret minimization
Popularized by Bezos, this simple method framework just asks you one thing: In a few years time, would I regret not doing this?
In essence, navigate your path with passion, keep your options open, seek growth opportunities, and choose what minimizes future regrets.
Trust in your journey, knowing that the right choices often reveal themselves through a blend of curiosity, flexibility, and foresight.

I start with what you should learn to master the fundamentals in IT, as below (in order):
1. O/S, you must understand how O/S works and the difference between Windows, Linux, MacOS, iOS & Android.
2. Network, you must understand how different elements in IT networks interact with each other using basic protocols.
3. Application, you must understand how programming/coding works by learning at least basic languages. Thru this, you should also learn how to create web interface.
4. System, once you understand O/S & network, you can take a step back and see how servers, network devices, laptops & mobiles brought into a single architecture and orchestration
5. Data, you must understand how data is stored and exchanged thru some basics on database so that you can see how data is flowing and interchanged between systems
6. Cloud computing, this technology is almost like a norm nowadays and you must get some ideas about the intent behind the cloud computing concept.
If you don’t mind to spend a little bit, you can go to Coursera, Linkedin Learning or udemy to find fundamental courses on 6 items above. In Coursera, they also offer official courses from Google & Microsoft by example.
Otherwise, if you don’t want to pour a single dollar yet, you can always go to Youtube and find free tutorials.
Finally, you can Google below sites to get free materials for specific area:
1. O/S Linux: https://t.co/6uKXBXrA8m
2. Network Cisco: https://t.co/mynNrGZBtW
Once you feel comfortable with your level of knowledge in all 6 areas above then you can explore more specific areas such as cyber security, data analytics, web development etc.

Anak suka lompat atas meja makan/sofa?
