2 Fir enjoyed learning about personal hygiene and the importance of washing their hands. We used glitter to represent the germs and went around covering as many surfaces, shaking hands with as many people as possible. We then focused on how to thoroughly wash our hands.

A group of children used colourful semantics to write sentences. They enjoyed creating silly sentences and sentences to match a picture, which helped them understand the structure of a simple sentence @PrimaryWoodside @IPAT_Edu

This week, 2 Fir have been exploring the different ways they can partition 2 digit numbers. They used dienes to represent their findings I.e. 22, 2 tens and 2 ones, 1 ten and 1 tens and 2 ones @PrimaryWoodside @IPAT_Edu

We have begun thinking about the transition from Year 2 to Year 3. We took a tour and found similarities and differences between the 2 buildings. Then we thought about what we wanted our new teachers to know about us. @PrimaryWoodside

Ayaz challenged himself this morning to show numbers 1-57 in Roman numerals as a part of his early morning work. Each day he comes in with new facts learnt surrounding science and maths. @PrimaryWoodside

2 Fir enjoyed tasting some Caribbean desserts during DT food week. They identified whether they were savoury or sweet & tried to guess the ingredients @PrimaryWoodside

This afternoon, 2 Fir really engaged in our PSHE lesson discussing the importance of money and how the bank helps us keep track of money. They explored what they would spend their ���wages” on, using online shopping to help keep track on the amount. @PrimaryWoodside

Today, 2 Fir conducted an investigation to see if the amount of water affects the speed of germination. We discussed the variables we are changing/ not changing before following our group written method. We then stuck our seeds to our class window so they were in direct sunlight.

Today, in PE, as a part of our balancing topic we transformed the hall into real life Twister using cones. The class of 2 Fir, enjoyed playing and seeing how far they could stretch their bodies, turning their arms and legs in unusual positions @PrimaryWoodside @IPAT_Edu

2 Fir enjoyed creating foldable hearts for Mother Day, as their reward time, arts and crafts using their raffle tickets they’ve worked hard to get. @PrimaryWoodside

Year 2 Hawthorn used base 10 to add two digit numbers to two digit numbers.

Ayaz enjoyed taking on maths mastery challenges from NRICH and NCETM. He used his addition and subtraction knowledge to solve different number investigations. @PrimaryWoodside @IPAT_Edu

2 Fir enjoyed imagining they were going on a trip to Mars deciding what they would need to take with them in order to survive. They then explored the difference between what a human needs compared to what they want. @PrimaryWoodside @IPAT_Edu

Ayaz’s wonderful descriptive sentences created based on our core text ‘The Dark’. He used ambitious adjectives to describe what he could feel, hear and see walking into the darkness. @PrimaryWoodside @IPAT_Edu

Year 2 Hawthorn grasped the concept of number bonds and used different strategies to to find the total. Then they challenged themselves with multiplication questions. @PrimaryWoodside @IPAT_Edu
