@adamscochran 'Realize' is not an exclusively American spelling - in fact it is the spelling preferred by Oxford University Press. Unlike some US spellings like 'color', which British people never use, we often mix and match when it comes to '-ise' and '-ize'. Inconsistency is common.

I think we need to normalize asking for citations. You see so many comments that start with science shows, without referencing a specific study or scholar. I think the hard part is that people tend to view asking for citations as a threat to their credibility.
