@thesatisfier101@fesshole They're a lot different, especially when it comes down to the psychological effects of promiscuity on the other partner. It's a deal breker for most men and much as I feel for this guy and hope it works out, it's unlikely he'll be able to reconcile it long term.
@Cobratate@fouroneone2012 Still not clear on why he stopped tbh. Religious reasons? But religion 'should' be a guide to a more fulfilling life, in which case I would expect him to espouse more tangible day to day benefits. I am a tee-totaller for the record and my life is tangibly better.
@rowantrollope@JamesClear Beautiful, yet raw, a little sad and fundamentally so very true. It speaks to the impossibility of trying to articulate the nature, scope and depth of a parent's love, but in doing so does exactly that.
@BenKentish Because they can dictate your path and outcomes. Glib to say they don't matter. Nobody else will care, true; nobody gives a shit about anyone else past 30. But each person should care about their own outcomes and grads generally have better earning outcomes.
@RossJAnderson83 @NoContextBrits Just researching this and it got nominated for 5 oscars, including best picture and director, won best supporting actress BAFTA, and also best picture at the golden globes. Certified 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. I had no idea. I'd assumed it was a direct to TV release!
@RossJAnderson83 @NoContextBrits Won this in a raffle in the 80s - didn't watch it for years. Really underrated film with some great performances, good comedy with dark humour in parts, and completely transported me in to the world of life in London in the blitz. The sets and costumes were great looking back.
@PopBase She doesn't look old old & if this was real life it would be different. But onscreen audience perceptions of age differ. In teen movies high school kids are played by 25 year olds, but their parents are played by people in their early 40s, cause everyone needs to look good.
