Traditionally, sensor fusion is a software-heavy process prone to temporal lag and parallax errors. With Rev8, we’ve moved that complexity to the silicon.

This SLAM sequence is powered by Ouster’s our new L4 MAX chip. Because the lidar and color data are fused at the moment of measurement, the point cloud is born with 48-bit color. No extrinsic calibration, no drift, and zero latency.

For perception teams, this means better classification of safety vests, traffic signals, and road markings without the compute overhead of post-processing.

Google has made an awesome proposal, subject to court approval, to open up Android in the US Epic v Google case and settle our disputes. It genuinely doubles down on Android's original vision as an open platform to streamline competing store installs globally, reduce service fees for developers on Google Play, and enable third-party in-app and web payments.

This is a comprehensive solution, which stands in contrast to Apple’s model of blocking all competing stores and leaving payments as the only vector for competition. The public filings are live.

I'm about to do something I think I've never done before, which is assert every bit of whatever authority I have as the person who discovered and wrote down the rules of open source.

After ten years of drama and idiocy, lots of people other than me are now willing to say in public that "Codes of Conduct" have been a disaster - a kind of infectious social insanity producing lots of drama and politics and backbiting, and negative useful work.

Here is my advice about codes of conduct:

1. Refuse to have one. If your project has one, delete it. The only actual function they have is as a tool in the hands of shit-stirrers.

2. If you're stuck with having one for bureaucratic reasons, replace it with the following sentence or some close equivalent: "If you are more annoying to work with than your contributions justify, you'll be ejected."

3. Attempts to be more specific and elaborate don't work. They only provide control surfaces for shit-stirrers to manipulate.

Yes, we should try to be kind to each other. But we should be ruthless and merciless towards people who try to turn "Be kind!" into a weapon. Indulging them never ends well.

Would love to see password managers like @Bitwarden leverage hardware security mechanisms since clearly platforms (Android, iOS/MacOS, Windows) aren't incentivized to.

This is even scarier: an uptime monitor that doesn't support a very important 4+ year old security protocols. Good thing I'm not a paid subscriber trying to run a secure website.

TIL that if I require TLS v1.3 on @Ubiquiti UniFi controller, the Android UniFi app will fail to connect.

1. If you steal crypto, don't send the crypto to an upgradeable smart contract (or that the keys are destroyed if you even believe that)
2. Don't steal money in a manner the owners of the upgrade multi-sig (hopefully multi-sig at least) disapprove of your actions
