@NewsWire_US Was the dog also in Nebraska? Because it's not clear from the wording, and if they weren't, that's a much more interesting story, or some implausible ballistics...
@fesshole For all the naysayers who say you can't just borrow a lathe, it says popped round, not "drove my car round" - it's entirely possible and in fact quite likely that they popped round in their forklift, JCB Telehandler, or mobile crane. Who looks foolish for making assumptions now?
@twentysixbux@CockertonMark@TravelodgeUK If the room has been paid for, why does that matter? It's yours for the whole night, if you choose to occupy it or not. They want to sell it to someone else, and keep both payments, which is just bullshit. They have your details on file (or it's paid up front) so it's yours.
@MikScarlet@MotabilityOps Wait, you need to save up Β£7K for the deposit (which you don't get back), but if you have more than Β£6K in savings they cut your benefits...
@OrMakeOne Haha it is CANBUS, I called it π Official software is here https://t.co/tEzs8ULvNR , as you can see it's pretty straightforward. I bet there are schematics for a PC dongle freely available and cheaply constructed too - hang on to that damaged cable, you might be able to reuse it
@OrMakeOne Modes are stored in motor controller (although least on mine), and you tell it what the inputs should mean. It has a bunch of parameters like spin up time, and range for analogue controls, so for my scooter, 0-33% is "apply regen", 33-66% is "coast" and 66-100% is "accelerate"
@OrMakeOne I haven't tried the software yet, but it's not computer programming, it's just like setting your preferred keys in a video game - you add the input device by serial number, the joystick outputs A, B, C, D and you just tell it A means forward, B is right, C is back and D is left
@OrMakeOne Thanks to the work of some russian hacker, and Google translate, I found that their special cable is actually Β£10 worth of parts and 15 minutes with a soldering iron, and the software can be "obtained"... I haven't looked into R-Net, but I'd bet good money it's just CANBUS/RS485
@OrMakeOne Hmm, might be tricky - I know because I have another mobility scooter with a Curtiss-Wright speed controller that officially it needs either a dedicated reprogramming tool (Β£1200) or a special servicing cable/dongle and official software (Β£900) BUT there is another way...
@OrMakeOne Exactly this - either make up a new lead, or figure out how to patch/bypass the suspect lead by crocodile clips and patch cables, or something similar
It's either continuity or termination - some networks don't like to be left "open-ended", so make sure everything that ought to be connected is, but if you're getting an open circuit where other cables measure continuity, that's probably the problem.
@2e0rtb one of them may be to blame, as one appears to have a continuity failure, specifically between the top left pins if you look at the connector head on with the more widely spaced pins at the bottom. Is that a likely scenario? I've tried swapping the cables over but resultss (ctd)
@OrMakeOne It's an R-Net connector, cables are available but they're not cheap. I don't know if the connector was made as a bespoke part, or if it's from a commercial catalogue like amphenol, I will continue searching. https://t.co/w5vCi5iL5w
Well, in positive news, more than half of my immediate neighbours aren't racist fuckwits - the county at large however π Guess we're going to find out what happens when people vote to have local services run on the basis of ethnonationalism and hate rather than reason or logic
@TheMeldrew And if you have a variable condition where sometimes you drive twice a week, and sometimes you go weeks without driving, what, they take the car back? Ludicrous. As long as they're getting paid whose business is it how much it gets driven? They should be happy for higher resale Β£
@Samwinton99@ChrisHasla73748 The problem is, it's all lumped together. The universal credit I get for being too disabled to work is via the exact same universal credit system an unemployed person gets - if they're forced to exist on beans and rice, so would I be. It's not a separate "disability benefit"
@YFIHQ Seems like they wasted a lot of time bouncing it sideways when they could have just rolled it onto its side/roof, which would have had the bonus effect of reminding the owner not to park blocking the road...
@RachelCDailey_ Because if I call them a cunt that's "inappropriate language for the office" and I have to talk to HR? Seriously though, I understand your frustration, but it's also a fundamental part of how English forms insults and swearwords - in Dutch they call people cancerous instead π€·
