@inpredict Alright pretty confident this is the answer now. Prolly has to be actual buzzer beater to surpass MJ over Russell and this is the only one of the last 30 years that 1) went from trailing to winning and 2) wasn’t before the conference finals
@inpredict Are these team agnostic or betting market priced? I was assuming the former so I assumed no conf finals could compete with MJ 1998 but if the latter, a last sec tipin (trailing to leading) in game 6 of a conf finals (aka Derrick White vs Miami 2023) could overcome the extra round
@knarsu3 Still obviously positively variance but I’d imagine his true shooting % is much higher than 32%. He was getting to high 30s before OKC and shooting definitely positively correlates with rhythm (more minutes, more shots)
I’m usually team “yes matchups matter but most public attempts to try to predict matchups are simply fitting narratives to past random noise” but… Wemby appearing to be a huge neutralizer of OKC’s 2 best players (SGA’s offense and Chet’s defense) seems like a legitimate signal
@padspoker Not sure just how narrow your preflop range is (how polar is the cold 5 range) but if there isn’t much AXs/KXs, then…AK? Gotta think QQ is indifferent by the river so blocking AA and KK is key
@NBACouchside Game 3 odds suggest okc still a slight fav on neutral in market, which is still pretty far off from your assessment (which I mostly agree with). My point is more just that having okc as 15% is definitely off even assuming your assessment of power ratings on neutral is correct
@NBACouchside Brain processing ability has never been more important than now. The idea that the David Lee archetype is limited was very true up until 10 years ago (and ironically, not fully understood at that point). But the league is much less 1-on-1 now on both ends
@aejonesleggo If only former NBA players both watched enough games and were competent at pattern recognization, they'd realize just how often this is said
Yes they're barking at each other right now, but don't overlook the fact that the league best duo of Jaylen Brown and Embiid still have the Sixers' 2 highest +/-'s in the game
Just in: The NBA and NBPA have ruled in favor of Lakers' Luka Doncic and Pistons' Cade Cunningham on their Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge for the 65-game award rule, making both eligible for all 2025-26 season honors such as MVP and All-NBA teams, sources tell ESPN.
