My late meta was an alcoholic. I helped him wean off the sauce several times when he had difficulty staying on the wagon.

(Would he have been better off going to the hospital, or rehab? Maybe. But those weren't always good options, for a number of reasons.)

IN FACT, actually, when an alcoholic relapses and goes on a bender, you might well want them to have a safe supply of booze, because cold-turkey withdrawal can kill you.

@thereds8 Hey Ian. I actively attend AA. There’s a reason when one of alcoholic fellows relapses I worry less than one who is also attending NA—it’s because we already have safe supply for booze. Hope this helps.
