Amy Coney Barrett adopted two children from Haiti.

Now she’s part of a Supreme Court majority allowing the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for roughly 350,000 Haitians, putting many at risk of losing legal protection while instability continues in their home country.

Many Haitians with TPS work as nurses, nursing assistants, home health aides, and other essential healthcare professionals across the United States.

This is a profound contradiction. Supporters argue the ruling was about executive authority and immigration law, not the merits of Haiti’s conditions.

Whatever your view, these decisions affect real families, real workers, and real communities. That’s why transparency, accountability, and thoughtful public debate matter.

BREAKING: Speaker Mike Johnson has officially sent the housing bill to President Trump.

That starts the 10-day constitutional clock: Trump can sign it into law, veto it, or take no action. If Congress remains in session and he doesn’t sign or veto it within 10 days (excluding Sundays), the bill automatically becomes law.

ITS OFFICIAL: Mayor Zohran Mamdani just announced that New York City’s independent Rent Guidelines Board has frozen rents for rent-stabilized apartments.

“More than 2 million New Yorkers who live in a rent-stabilized apartment—your rent is going to be frozen next year and the year after that,” Mamdani said.

For families struggling with the cost of living, today’s decision means more money can stay in their pockets instead of going toward another rent hike.

MAJOR BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that states may count mail-in ballots that arrive after Election Day, so long as they comply with their own election laws.

The decision leaves existing state grace-period laws in place and affirms that states retain flexibility in administering mail-in voting under their election procedures.
