One of the premier offensive threats in Ohio's 2028 class, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound left-handed hitter put together another standout performance, going 3-for-4 with a run scored while barreling four baseballs throughout the day. Ward's advanced left-handed swing, strength through contact, and ability to drive the ball to all fields continue to stand out. Behind the plate, he remains equally impressive, showing advanced receiving and blocking skills. He also flashed a strong, accurate arm on throws to second.

Ranked No. 27 in the class, Ward continues to establish himself among the state's top young prospects. Sophomore season stats: 28-80 .350 AVG, .950 OPS, 9 2B, 1 HR, 18 RBI, 16 R, 16 BB, 1 HBP, 10-10 SB.

In Division III, Region 10 action, #6 @USbsbl took advantage of a handful of Defiance miscues and used a three-run 3rd inning to defeat #14 @DefianceBBall, 4-1, advancing to the Regional Final.

2026 @AuburnBaseball commit @DeaconNelson1 is widely known for what he does at the plate, but it was his arm that stole the show on Thursday. The right-hander kept Defiance off balance throughout four strong innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out two.

2028 RHP @miles_wolf_15 slammed the door over the final two innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit in an impressive relief appearance.

2026 SS/3B James Bucci impacted the game on both sides of the ball for the Preppers. The right-handed hitter finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while also turning in a standout defensive performance.

Defiance's top two prospects did everything they could to keep the Bulldogs in it. 2028 C @Colt_Ward30 continued to show he's one of the states premier bats, going 3-for-4 with four barrels and a run scored, while 2027 RHP @ikewebb_35 battled through seven innings, allowing four runs, just one earned, and striking out three.

University School now advances to face #3 @paduabruinbb in the Regional Final. Padua earned its spot with a 3-2 victory over @SylvaniaSouthv1 in the day's second semifinal.

A @wblsports showdown with league title implications saw #21 (D3) @DefianceBBall (15-9, 7-2 WBL) knock off #5 (D4) @BathWildcatBase (14-3, 6-2 WBL) by a 7-3 final. A 5-run 2nd inning proved to be the difference as Defiance secured its 30th overall WBL championship — 16 more than the next closest program, @memorialbball.

2026 RHP @JarenH08 went the distance on the mound for Defiance, allowing 3 runs (2 ER) on 4 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 5. He also helped his own cause offensively with an RBI single and a run scored.

2028 C @Colt_Ward30 paced the offense with a double, walk and two runs scored, while 2026 1B Brayden Weaver delivered the biggest hit of the game with a clutch 3-run double during the Bulldogs’ 5-run 2nd inning. 2026 Drew Allegretti added to the attack, going 1-for-1 with 2 RBIs, a run scored and 2 HBP.

Lima Bath was led by 2026 SS and leadoff hitter @Jaden_Miller1, who finished 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored. 2027 OF @steedlovesbball contributed as well, going 1-for-2 with a walk, RBI and run scored.

The Wildcats will look to claim a share of the title on Monday as they host Celina on Monday, where the game is in the bottom of the 2nd with two runners on and no outs.

2027 RHP @ikewebb_35 got the start for the Bulldogs, striking out 9 in a complete game effort. Big game at the plate and defensively for the talented 2028 catcher @Colt_Ward30. The LHH went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. The battery of Webb & Ward worked well together, keeping the Wapak hitters off balance all night with just 4 total hits.

2026 RHP @DrewBailey08 kept Wapak in the game throughout, going 6 innings, allowing just 3 earned runs. Bailey also produced at the plate with an RBI single for the first run of the game. 2026 C @gmericle4 also provided an RBI single for Wapakoneta.
