I disagree. There are many scriptures that suggest it is a different language completely, possibly they language of the angels. Like in 1Corinthians 13:1.

Then there’s this one-
1 Corinthians 14:2 “For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.”

and this one-

1Corinthians 14:4-5. “Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.”
Why would they need an interpreter, when the person could do it themselves?

Also-
1Corinthians 14:14-15 “For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding.”

That’s quite a bit of scripture that does not support your belief. Tongues are real and true, however, most of the Church lacks the faith.

Been there man. I could not stop on my own, nor is that what God wanted from me! He wanted me to know Him, to let Him show me who He is. The moment i truly decided to quit using and i pressed into God’s Word, to believe what i was reading is the Truth, God took care of the hard part! For about two weeks after i made these decisions, through the DT’s, God held me so close, i cannot understand it! It was the most amazing and eye opening time of my life. I looked like death, but felt more alive and free than i ever have. It’s weird to say my withdraw period was the best I’ve ever felt, ever! But it was. And it wasn’t because I’m so special, it’s because He is so good! And the things He says are true and trust worthy! I am praying for you brother! Fast and focus on Jesus Christ, fast with no other intentions but to know Him more, He WANTS to carry the weight.
