@MichaelAArouet Trump NATO talk is meaningless, he has no authority to take US out.
US withdrawal requires 66% senate vote and obviously the idea has minimal support outside the white house.
@fbermingham The UK has virtually no manufacturing base to hollow out.
We are the beneficiaries of the incoming EU-CN margin compression price war.
Equally given the hostile disdain from Brussels towards the UK since Brexit, “loyalty” to the EU on trade simply shouldn’t feature.
@WhiteNoise1879 The whole article is a bit of a farce tho, none of those tickets will ever actually transact.
If I had a season ticket, I’d happily list every game on there for £800.
Expect nothing, but maybe 1 match goes to a tourist and then the rest of the season is free!
@ShanghaiMacro You shouldn’t read too much into this. It is a 90-day postponement of tariffs. Listen to the conference and there are still insurmountable hurdles on “subsidies for labour and industry” amongst others.
Obviously this is a positive, but we aren’t across any arbitrary finish line.
@WhiteNoise1879 In hindsight scouting department have been top class. They have both been awesome signings and it was always an either/or for us.
A lot of landmines dodged given CDMs elsewhere
@AviTillu1@michaelxpettis@ForeignAffairs Without tariff carve outs for low skill production, there is no incentive to relocate production and it is simply a tax. An economically regressive tax at that too.
For higher end I can see a capex/relocation impulse.
@AviTillu1@michaelxpettis@ForeignAffairs US manufacturing base is far broader than UK and closer to balanced in mid-high end industry.
I’m guessing there will be NAFTA carve outs or other such FTAs with low unit wage cost partners to facilitate relocation of low end consumer goods away from China.Otherwise policy fails
@WhiteNoise1879 Tactically. All done on phone apps now so easy to do.
In summer we have programs to get bedrooms down to temp 30 mins before we head upstairs.
If you’re out you can turn it on from the car before you arrive home etc.
