Listen to Kenny #ADA#34thAvenue#OpenStreet#disabled#jacksonheights we fight for people like Kenny to be able to get the same quality service everyone else in our neighborhood gets. Having to be dropped off on another place that’s not their home because of OS is not right.
Read more on Kenny’s Story. The fact that the coalition spokesperson says they won’t stop for someone to save a couple minutes driving and dismisses someone like Kenny is appalling. They don’t seem to really care about our neighbors who need access. https://t.co/VRw3YOUscM
#openstreets Berry St closed during the work week for nothing. Not serving the community or led by community. Its time for this abandoned program to go! Residents do not want to live in these conditions anymore. @LincolnRestler
In the streets of Jackson Heights, Community Board 3 member Nuala represents the Open Streets proudly, but when it comes to speaking to interviewers with important questions, she sends others to not show her connections. @communityboard3 isn’t there a conflict here?
@jcsicsek@berrystalliance@ReynosoBrooklyn You should try listening to those who are actually disabled, instead of trying to speak for them. For example read the article where Kenny explains why the Open Street is affecting him.
@JelloBelle They just can’t say they care when they so blatantly have ignored the issues they’ve created for disabled and elderly people in this neighborhood for over a year.

Please read and see how a perfect example of a residents life being in danger due to Open Streets is shown and a spokesperson for the #34thAve Open Street Coalition says he doesn’t know what we’re talking about - we’ve been giving examples over and over. https://t.co/VRw3YOUscM
@juliamaddoxnyc @JimTalbott75 And that they just started going from 7:30am for no reason other than the leader of the coalition having a wish to see kids earlier. School employees are not happy about this, students are getting late to school - many parents are having trouble and no one was consulted… again.
Imagine living in a place where daily, right in front of your home there is an event happening. As nice as activities can be, when it compromises the safety and access of those who live there, it takes away from whatever good it could do for the community. We have spaces for it.
@Fullblast4Miha and it’s not vague, we’ve shown plenty the issues, and our neighbors keep bringing more up. If you haven’t been paying attention, doesn’t mean that we’re being vague.
@Fullblast4Miha Almost all of them, because we got those signatures by asking for support with flyers, and spreading the word between neighbors. We are not backed by a nationwide organization like TA - we are residents of JH representing our community.
@Bailyn_DeTVille @JimTalbott75 If you think that putting barricades in the middle of the road without any space for emergency vehicles to pass, as it was specified in the @NYC_DOT guidelines for Open Street, is a good decision - there’s much less to say about you. The proof is there.
@Bailyn_DeTVille @JimTalbott75 Cars move when there’s an emergency vehicle coming. The barriers don’t. I’ll refer you to the videos and pictures we’ve posted of emergency services stuck or having to get out of their vehicles to move the barriers wasting time.
@Fullblast4Miha Also you can see the calendar from the 34th Avenue Open Street Coalition that does activities almost every day in front of these homes. It’s easy to see, there’s nothing vague about it. If you would live in 34th Avenue you’d see it.
