@lunarbisou i had a spreadsheet that catalogued my movies from 2007-2016. and being able to have letterboxd has been essential to my movie watching since then. its a corner of the internet that hasn't been ruined yet. and the possibility of it being enshitified by coorporate greed stinks.
@Knock1onheaven2 i like them existing. especially for open matte scans. and for having the original version of star wars out there. but i dont think they are more important than official restorations. some of the scanners get a bit high minded about their hobby.
@t_NYC im not arguing against the workers, but it also could be the only day they could get clearance to film on the bridge. not too easy to close down a main bridge during the day. we don't know because we dont work on the production or in the nyc film office.
@renaimo17@natelorenzen@PopCulture2000s the only person that gets it. keep seeing these comparisons and they are just a bit disingenuous. comparing stills, to compressed screenshots of a triler just isn't the same thing.
@PetreRaleigh its not for everyone. but it can be alot of fun depending on the movie. its less fun for like stupid action movies, and more fun for a movie like Twister, or Baby Driver, or Top Gun Maverick. i'd never invite someone who doesn't like it on face value.
@BCWallin sadly no. it would be the same thing if amc decided to cancel the speed racer screening to put in more project hail mary screenings. it cuts both ways. im dissapointed too. but hopefully other screenings will be added.
@Jfcdoomblade Math wise not really if you have to pay a fee on each movie you see, especially premium formats. so if i go see 16 imax or dolby movies for $40 in a month, you'd pay something like $8 in booking fees, then $80 in additional fees. on top of your $30 plan.
@videogamedeals unsurprising for them. i dont mind delays, but zero explanation as to why and saying 'oh its the ceo being agressive' is actually annoying.
@IMAX again. @IMAX socials, can you guys please stop suporting and encouraging people who take pictures of in the middle of a movie. you need to move away from this and tell people to stop doing this.
@BeyondFest agreed. im less prissy about end credits. but its a bummer to see IMAX official accounts use pics and clips from projection booths. i think it gives morons a permission structure to think they can do it themselves. so many of them have been like 'Im hElPiNg AdVerTise dA MoVIE'
