The Startup Odyssey
The film opens at a warehouse in SoMa. Ithaca has just completed a triumphant seed round.
There is dry ice, a projection wall, a DJ, and a bartender making cocktails named after machine-learning models.
The founder Ody announces that the company will reach $100 million in revenue within three years.
The party is their Troy. They believe the hard part is over.
The next morning, their largest customer cancels.
Their lead seed investor tells them they need to raise a Series A immediately, before the market “detects weakness.”
They leave their office carrying laptops, branded hoodies, and a pitch deck with 84 slides.
…@pmarca traps them inside the conference room.
When he asks their name, the founder replies:
“Nobody. We are still in stealth.”
They escape when an EA says it’s time for his 6th podcast of the day.
As they flee, the founder cannot resist shouting the company’s real name “Ithaca” and their website https://t.co/pR54NbsRNm
Marc Andreessen hears him and posts that Ithaca is “deeply unserious.
This follows them for their entire startup odyssey.
