My suggestions for limiting 2025 nutrient expenses:
1. Base P & K application on what was just removed and omit any P/K build-up applications. Vary application rate based upon a map of harvest yield.
3. Apply no more than 50% of the N budget in the fall and limit the use of nitrification inhibitors to wet parts of the field (direct injection).
5. Create a 2025 budget with projected inputs and take advantage of pre-season pricing discounts.
7. Avoid adding new, untested inputs. Limit risk exposure to strip or field trials.
8. Do business with a reliable and trustworthy input supplier. Making profitable input management decisions requires much more than the cost of an input.

I was asked this question again by a grower today. It is updated to reflect $9.34 local cash soybean versus the $14.00 soybean price in 2022. It may be a mute point because there are a lot of dry soybean fields out there.
