At last—here it is. I made the mac and cheese you so kindly taught me how to make. I’m going to share my report in a 7-part thread.📝
I had tried instant mac and cheese before, but I honestly didn’t think it was very good. That’s why I wanted to learn a real homemade version. You explained your recipe so carefully, so I tried to follow it as closely as I could.🔎
This photo shows the ingredients I was able to find in Japan. I already mentioned in an earlier post that I went to a specialty cheese shop to buy the cheeses.🧀
You told me to use pasta no longer than 2 cm, so it would fit on a spoon. The Italian pasta I found here was things like penne, fusilli, and farfalle, so I bought macaroni made by a Japanese brand instead. In Japan, this kind of small macaroni is called “salad macaroni,” because it’s often used for macaroni salad with ham, vegetables, and mayonnaise.🥄
And this was my first time ever buying paprika powder. Paprika isn’t used very much in Japanese cooking, so now I have to figure out what else to do with it lol 🫑
