Genome India Project is out. 59 of 83 populations show higher inbreeding than Ashkenazi Jew- signals that we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg; scaling this to over 4,900 communities has the power to fundamentally redefine global clinical genetics.

"Kerala-exceptionalists" are delusional.
Malayāḷam wasn't even distinct from Western dialects of (Old) Tamiḻ until around the 9th–11th century and separate martial tradition (Kalarippayattu vs. Cilampam) didn't emerge until the 13th century.
Anthropologically, Malayāḷis are barely even an independent ethnicity from Tamilians (they share a common ancient cultural base and only diverged into separate regional identities during the medieval period), let alone a completely separate civilization.
Even the marumakkatāyam inheritence system that distinguishes them from Tamils is likely borrowed from the aḷiyasantāna system of the Tuḷuvas.
The original inheritence system of the Ceras was makkatāyam.
Tuḷuvas have a better argument for separate ethnicity and independent culture (Nāga ārādhane, bhūta kōla, pāḍḍanas, etc., etc.) from Malayāḷis and Kannaḍigas than Malayāḷis have for being distinct from Tamils.
If your definition of civilization is so narrow as to define "Malayalam civilization" as a separate civilization from "Tamil civilization," then you should concede that "Bhojpuri civilization" is separate from "Maithili civilization."
@Kar_Bharadwaj The split between South Dravidian and Central Dravidian languages was probably older than the migration of Dravidian-speaking groups into South India.
@Kar_Bharadwaj I think the South-Central Dravidian languages, such as Telugu, may have split during the time of the Indus Valley Civilization. I also came across a discussion that some Sindhi songs contain numbers that sound similar to Dravidian, especially Telugu.

Jagat Motwani's book "None But India" discusses the use of #Dravidian numbering while playing "Gillee Danda" #கில்லி in #Sindh.

@Kar_Bharadwaj possibly through present-day Maharashtra or Goa. Other groups may have moved inland toward the Bayaluseeme region and further south into what is now Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
@Kar_Bharadwaj If you see the South Dravidian language tree, Tulu appears to have separated at an early stage. In my view, when South Dravidian-speaking groups migrated into South India, the ancestors of the Tulu language likely followed a coastal route,
Later, when northern Kerala came under the rule of Tamil kingdoms, the majority of the population gradually adopted a Tamil-like language while retaining much of their original culture. However, isolated tribes such as the Mavilan may have preserved elements of a Tulu-like language.

What would happen to Japan if it retained its grudge over the nuclear bombings of World War II and sought revenge by waging guerrilla warfare against USA? Would Japan still be the same prosperous first-world country that it is today?
Most of the Muslim world has not accepted the fact that the USA and Israel are far superior countries in terms of military and technological strength. They still dream that one day they will eliminate Israel.
All I have observed is Iran irresponsibly firing missiles at residential buildings in GCC https://t.co/o8vUh5kPEC contrast, the United States now conducts highly precise military operations.USA recently carried out a precise military operation in Venezuela without any casualties
Whenever war occurs in West Asia, there are frequent reports that many children have died. How accurate are these reports? Are these reports accurate, or are they being used as a propaganda tool to influence public opinion in their favor.
This drop from @SarvamAI is really just so good I keep going back to it! Some of these fonts are so wild, it's magical they can even be transcribed. What's next team @SarvamAI?
Drop 4/14: Introducing Sarvam Vision: a state-space based 3 billion parameter vision language model that is competitive with the best results in digitisation in English, and defines a significantly higher bar for Indian languages. See the details in our blog: https://t.co/HyGMPNWJu7
