@furrtek @leo__oliveira I think there are 2 revisions, one (C) SNK and other (C) PLAYMORE. The data scrambling appeared on later games (I think KOF2002 was the first) so they likely did a chip revision to reduce piracy. Not surprising if true :)

@furrtek @FRDaltanious @Artemio @Rolel42 It will be interesting to know what was the issue. If I recall correctly, it was the word at offset 0 that had some additional scrambling apart from the address scrambling. For SS5 it was possible to recover the right value comparing it to SS5S

@topapate @WydD They are mainly used to have different scroll values at different parts of the screen. Ssf2 cammy and deejay stages for example. Also for shuma gorath chaos dimension, they set to trigger several times per screen to shuffle parts of the screen
