i'm building an app that pays you to stop using your phone.
it's called Offscreen.
start a focus session, put your phone down, finish it, get a tiny sponsor-funded reward.
companies fund the rewards instead of buying another ad that distracts you.

@vamonke the demo and the product are basically two different interfaces for the same feeling, which explains why technically impressive builds can still be boring to watch
starting to think impressions are one of the most misleading metrics on X
one of my replies got 1,135 impressions and 2 profile visits
meanwhile some replies with a fraction of the reach have sent more people to my profile
reach tells you how far something traveled. not whether it actually made anyone care
been building this because i got tired of looking at X analytics and still not knowing what actually works for my account
ReplyLab looks at my posts/replies over time and tries to figure out how my account actually grows, what changed, and what i should test next
still very early, would you use something like this?
@tirthaexe the screens would come back fast, recovering every weird native permission assumption buried in the code would probably take longer than the rebuild
@rashiumapathi makes me wonder if "pays you to stop using your phone" even closes that gap or just moves it, since no one searches for a reward mechanic either.
@MykoalaAI did you make the focus window fixed around prayer time or can users start it manually too? the fixed trigger feels like it solves half the activation problem
Good morning X ! ☕️
What's everyone building this weekend?
Today’s featured product is Offscreen from @3lsh916 - a new take on stopping doom scrolling with a way to win rewards.
It’s currently in waitlist: find it here: https://t.co/9oEkkvRC1V
If you wanna be featured next you just need to share your product on Buildside.

would €0.10 actually make you put your phone down for 25 minutes?
i'm testing €0.10 vs €0.20 in Offscreen because i'm curious whether a tiny reward is enough to get you over the “i should probably stop scrolling” barrier.
it's not supposed to pay you for 25 minutes. just get you to press start.
