My call to action to the #KMUN delegates; The future isn’t a distant destination—it’s being written by you today. ✍️ Step into the arena, think boldly, and act with intention. Carry your responsibility not as a burden, but as a calling to shape the world. The arena is yours! #DiplomacyInActionKE

The upcoming Africa–Forward Summit 🇰🇪🤝🇫🇷 will convey a key message: empowering youth voices is essential to building a more inclusive, forward-looking global future 🌟. The voices of young people play a critical role in shaping a nation's future, especially in an increasingly connected global landscape 🌐🗣️.
This week, Ambassador @arnaud_suquet, alongside the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs @SingoeiAKorir, engaged with youth during a high-level panel discussion at the 25th Annual Conference of the Kenya Model United Nations, held at the Kenya School of Government 🤝.
The discussion offered a timely platform to highlight the growing influence of youth in the Global South 🌍, with particular focus on Kenya’s role in shaping multilateral engagement.
Conversations explored how young people are not only participants but also active drivers of global dialogue, especially amid rapidly evolving technologies like Artificial Intelligence 💡.
Participants emphasized the importance of amplifying youth voices in global decision-making spaces 📢, recognizing their vital role in addressing both current and future challenges 🔍.
The exchange also examined the opportunities and risks presented by emerging technologies, balancing innovation and inclusion with concerns over equity and governance ⚖️.
These engagements will contribute to broader youth-centric conversations 💬 before and during the summit. Brace yourself, it is coming!

At the just concluded 25th annual conference of the Kenya Model United Nations, I made submissions on the upcoming Africa Forward Summit this May. As Kenya co-hosts this historic forum with France, we are ensuring young innovators are at the heart of our new era of equal partnership. #DiplomacyInActionKE @ForeignOfficeKE@FranceinKenya
Twenty-five years ago, a single idea took root to bring young people into the room where world issues are debated. Today, that idea has grown into the Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN): a living, breathing platform where Kenya’s youth do not simply observe global affairs, but actively shape what comes next. Honoured to stand alongside French Amb. @arnaud_suquet, Deputy Director KSG Peter Quest, Rob Burnett (CEO, @ShujaazKenya), KMUN founder and visionary @RonnieOsumba , Secretary-General @ModelunKenya Simon Kimuhu, and the committee of Third Secretaries @ForeignOfficeKE led by Debora Osiya and Stephen Otundo at this milestone moment.
In a continent where the majority are young, KMUN reminds us that the voice of Africa is not emerging, it is already here. From Nairobi, a growing anchor of multilateralism in the Global South, to partnerships opening pathways in jobs and research, the opportunity is undeniable. Yet so too is the challenge: to rebuild trust in a world unsettled by AI, misinformation, and rapid change.
I encouraged this generation to build a deep awareness of where we stand and where we are going to see clearly, think boldly, and act with intention. To exercise agency with courage, to move with urgency, and to carry responsibility not as a burden, but as a calling. Theodore Roosevelt aptly said, “it is not the critic who counts… the credit belongs to the one who is actually in the arena.” The future is not waiting in the distance it is being written now by those willing to step into that arena.
We also used the occasion to seek views from the youth on the African Forward Summit between France and Africa in May in Nairobi as well as on the Trust Summit.
