Stock Up On Tinned Food. That Is The Government's Actual Policy Now.

A state does not tell its citizens to keep bottled water and tinned food in the cupboard unless it already knows it cannot guarantee the basic security it was created to provide. That is what this advisory actually says, stripped of the reassuring language wrapped around it. Not "be sensible." An admission.

Look at what sits behind it. Russia's embassy has openly threatened Britain with "consequences" after British-built drones struck targets on Russian soil, language serious enough that the government is accelerating its own war book, the manual for defending the nation against external attack. The National Risk Register has just added interference in Britain's democratic process as a live threat. Five consecutive heatwaves and a prolonged drought have pushed the National Farmers Union to call the situation "increasingly concerning," with dairy farmers already burning through winter feed because the grass has stopped growing. Analysts are warning of the worst food security crisis in decades. None of these arrived without warning. Each has been building for years, visible to anyone paying attention, while the government's energy policy closed down North Sea production and left Britain more exposed to exactly the kind of price and supply shock now arriving.

A source told the Financial Times this would be "common sense, not scaremongering." That is precisely the kind of line a government reaches for when it wants to manage a reaction rather than answer a question. The question worth asking is not whether stocking a cupboard is sensible advice. It plainly is. The question is why a state with intelligence services that thwarted twenty Iranian-linked plots, with analysts warning of drought-driven food shortages months in advance, with its own risk register flagging democratic interference, is only now telling the public to prepare, rather than having spent the intervening years building the energy security, agricultural resilience and border control that would have made this advisory unnecessary.

This did not happen by accident. It happened because the people making these decisions were never equipped to see them coming. Britain's current parliamentary intake is drawn overwhelmingly from charities, political offices and communications work, backgrounds built around managing perception and institutional compassion, not defence, agriculture, energy or security. A parliament trained to manage a message will always reach for a message first. A public information campaign is what that instinct produces when the underlying risks have already arrived and can no longer be talked around.

Every thread running through this crisis traces back to a choice, not a misfortune. Energy independence was dismantled in pursuit of targets that assumed a stable world that no longer exists. Border security has been practically non-existent, verification abandoned in favour of processing speed, a four per cent removal rate standing as proof. Foreign policy has wavered between confrontation and retreat, provoking exactly the kind of hostile state response Britain is now least prepared to absorb. Each decision was defensible in isolation, at the time, to the people who made it. Together, they have produced a country now advising its own citizens to keep a torch and a few tins in reserve, because the state that was supposed to prevent this moment cannot promise it won't arrive.

Tinned food and bottled water will not fix an energy market Britain deliberately made itself vulnerable to. They will not replace a harvest lost to drought nobody planned for. They will not stop a hostile state that has already promised consequences. They are what a government offers the public once it has run out of the years it needed to prevent the emergency it is now asking them to survive.

Worryingly I am seeing this over & over again, in mainstream media.

We should all keep a good "prep" stock, whether the gov't tells us too or not.

I always keep a good larder store of tins & non perishables, as well as a store of water.

Britain already forces calcium, iron, niacin and thiamine into that flour. In November 2024 they added folic acid. Mills have until December 2026 to comply. Wholemeal is left alone so ministers can say you still have a choice.

That choice dies the moment you buy a cheap white loaf, a wrap, a biscuit, a batter mix or eat in a canteen.

Most people will never read the ingredients line.

That is not consent. That is a population dose.

They have put a manmade drug analogue in the national staple and called it public health.

Folic acid is not the folate in spinach. It is a synthetic industrial compound, made in a factory, added to most non wholemeal wheat flour by law.

If a GP put that in your tea every morning without asking, you would call it medication. In a loaf it is suddenly a vitamin. Same substance. Same lack of a yes from you.

Do these review ratings of our British supermarkets, look even vaguely acceptable to you?

As these places are SUPPOSED to sell us items meant to sustain us & keep us healthy (That's debatable!) their review ratings should be no lower than in 8!

ASDA, at this point looks like a lost cause, & even Waitrose has crashed.

But the fact is, what is happening to supermarkets is indicative, as to what happens under corporate globalism. These are massive corporate MONOPOLIES & their allegiance is to their SHAREHOLDERS & NOT us, the consumer. The result is COST-CUTTING, substituting REAL ingredients for industrial, chemical crap & a crash in quality.

The Indian owned 2 Sisters group has a MEAT MONOPOLY on ALL our big supermarkets, & 2 Sisters has some VERY questionable history, such as altering sell by dates & animal cruelty. & 2 Sisters provides meat for ALL our supermarkets. So that lovely looking steak you just paid premium for in Waitrose, was supplied to Waitrose, by the SAME company supplying steaks for ASDA. It could have even come from the SAME COW!

But there is the name of a lovely farm on that packet of steak, you say.

The cutesy names like "Sunshine Farm" (an example) are made up FANTASY names, simply used for marketing. Another real example is Aldi's "Birchwood" label.

Do you see how it works? & THIS is why we can sometimes feel like we are being conned by the big supermarkets, who use a full arsenal of marketing weapons simply meant to part us from our money for an INFERIOR product.

Never trust the packaging if it uses words like:

Added protein
Flavour
Light
Delux
Best
Hand prepared
Style

As non of these words holds any LEGAL weight to what you are buying.
Be VERY careful buying items which display the word "PROTEIN" in huge letters on the packaging, as this means added protein & there is a lot of "protein" in INSECTS.
"ACHETA FLOUR" has become hugely popular, recently, but not many people know that ACHETA is actually ground up CRICKETS!

In short, we are being duped, left right & centre by these places, who's only aim is to get us to part with our money, & keep their shareholders happy.

You can also guarantee those shareholders own dinner tables are filled with PROPER food, which did not come from a supermarket.

I still use supermarkets myself, namely Morrisons & Aldi, as the farm shop does not sell everything we need, but I wish it did.

The West had sufficiant and affordable energy security, until the United Nations finally destroyed it in the name of the Net Zero.

This has become the world's greatest single transfer of public assets by elected democratic governments in history. None of them consulted with their own citizens, yet proceeded to collude with the UN and sign numerous binding agreements, leading to combined commitments of many billions of dollars of public money.

Many of these governments agreed to a financial commitments to decarbonise their economies, lasting decades beyond their own elected tenure. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been handed out in the form of subsidies, to help build and install large arrays of wind turbines and solar panels.

This has led to a widespread economic slowdown and the loss of capacity for steel production and industrial manufacturing. These same governments have green lighted large areas of public land to be accessed and bulldozed for roadways, new power lines and the placement of massive wind towers over formerly picturesque rural areas, on hill slopes and blocking offshore seascapes.

This was a deliberate transfer of control of a nation's most vital strategic asset for an intangible belief system, that human society was at fault in producing carbon dioxide for its most essential energy needs. This transition to renewable energy, so far, has led to some of the most costly household power bills in modern history.

One outraged writer told me that Net Zero must be the most diabolical act of needless self harm ever inflicted on any democratic nation by its own government. This led to wholesale destruction of coal and gas power plants. This had damaged every nation industrially, defensively, economically and environmentally.

Government by regulatory decree is not government by representation. Mandating multi-decade economic rewiring without a specific electoral mandate violates the fundamental social contract between the state and the taxpayer.

Locking in 30-year subsidy contracts strips future voters of their democratic right to adjust energy policy based on real-world performance. This captures exactly what ordinary people now think of this heavy-handed exercise in power.
