3 Reading Dads' challenge is an initiative of @3Bookthirsty Africans to engage reading dads and bolster the reading culture among their friends & associates.
One thing people don’t talk about enough with gambling addiction is the constant exhaustion.
You wake up tired because your brain never shuts off. Your nervous system is fried from the constant highs and lows. Even when you’re relaxing… your mind is checking scores, checking your account, checking for a miracle.
You stop living in the moment because your happiness becomes tied to an outcome you can’t control.
I would hang with my family while my heart was racing over a 11pm West Coast game nobody else in the room even knew existed.
Sobriety is weird at first because your body is still stuck in fight or flight. All you’ve known for so long is gambling, chaos, panic, dopamine, and stress. So when it all suddenly stops, your brain doesn’t know how to function without it.
You feel restless… empty… irritated… lost.
A lot of compulsive gamblers aren’t bad people. They’re exhausted people pretending they’re okay.
If that’s you right now, keep fighting. Your brain and body can heal. I promise. My DM’s are open.

Fellow Nigerians!
If you are a parent with young children,
Teach your children to be readers from infancy. A reading child is going to be successful. Teach them the joy of traveling the world in books and the internet. Supervise their journey and watch them blossom.
Keep them away from Nigerian pentecostal prosperity churches. Nothing happens there that will make your child a well adjusted, thinking human being. It's just a hostile mobwy grubbing space that wukk turn your beautiful child Into a mobey grubbibg judgmental bigoted monster.
Again, raise your children to be inquisitive, deep thinkers who love to read and explore the mystery that is them and their world. A pretend religion that asks them to suspend intellect and credulity for a nebulous thing called faith, simply dulls the intellect of children and raises them to be bigoted souls.
Your pastors raise their children abroad while asking your own children to be stupid for a modest fee. Wake up. Fellow Nigerians, the church is ruining your children. You can still be a Christian but find a thinking church with highly educated priests, not a thieving bigoted church.

June 12, celebrated as Democracy Day in Nigeria, should be a reminder of the struggles and sacrifices made to secure democratic freedom. However, true democracy goes beyond merely marking a date on the calendar; it requires the government to prioritize good governance. For Nigeria to honor the spirit of June 12, the focus must shift to the delivery of basic services, economic development, and the protection of citizens' rights. It's time for the government to stop paying lip service and start fixing the system... ensuring that democracy translates into a better life for every Nigerian. Good governance must be at the heart of our national agenda.

God forbids!
That #Books should be a luxury out of reach of ordinary Nigerians and "reading" an exclusive middle-class pursuit.
Happy Sunday to every #Booklover wherever you are!
