Agreed that there is an argument in favour of having structured and simple taxing mechanism which can boost growth in long run.
But, that is also applicable everywhere not only on mining. For example states also tax fuel. Which impacts heavily on our daily lives. Infact economy also suffers due to higher logistic cost. But government of India doesn't dare to revoke state power to tax fuel.

This simply implies politically unimportant states like Odisha's concern doesn't matter. GoI can armtwist Odisha but won't dare elsewhere. This is a bad precedent. Also it also means common man being taxed heavily is fine but industrialists won't pay similar tax. This is bad faith behavior.
