Israel abducted a 20-year-old woman from her home in the occupied West Bank in the middle of the night on June 2.

Her name is Sama Safi.

She is not a combatant.

She is an American-Palestinian university student.

She has now been caged in an Israeli dungeon for 58 days — without charges, without reason.

And yet, the same voices that claim to care about human rights have nothing to say.

No outrage. No headlines. No urgent calls for her freedom.

Because Sama is Palestinian, her story is ignored.

A Muslim woman activist has died.

She was one of Britain's most recognised Muslim women activists of her time.

Her name was Maz Saleem.

For over a decade, if you stood at an anti-racism demonstration in this country, you likely heard her speak.

She wrote for the Independent, 5Pillars, Counterfire, Middle East Eye.
She stood against Islamophobia and the far right when few others would say the words.

She never chose this work.

It came for her on 29 April 2013. Two phone calls, seconds apart.

"Dad's been stabbed."
"Dad's dead."

Her father. Haji Mohammed Saleem. 82.

Followed home from Isha prayers in Small Heath, Birmingham.
Stabbed three times from behind. Yards from his front door.

His killer was a terrorist. In the country less than a week.
He was only caught after he bombed three mosques.
He was convicted under terrorism laws.

But every headline led with "white supremacist."

Maz said police told the family within minutes it was not racist.
She said her own family were investigated first.

Three weeks later, Lee Rigby was murdered.
COBRA convened. National outrage. Terrorism, in almost every article.

Her father's murder: "racially motivated." Quietly filed. Moved on from.

Maz asked for one thing.

Call it what it was. Terrorism.

The press never did.

We will.

Pavlo Lapshyn was a terrorist.
Mohammed Saleem was murdered in an act of terror.
His daughter spent thirteen years making Britain hear it.

This April, she wrote that she had forgiven her father's killer.
And that Britain had still not faced the truth about why he was killed.

She never stopped saying his name.

She was a Muslim woman.
Her name was Maz Saleem.

He was a Muslim man.
His name was Mohammed Saleem.

Say both.

We remember them both.

Anthony Davis knocked on the door of a mosque in the city of Frisco, telling them he was homeless and had no food. Since giving in Islam is an essential part of their religion—for both Muslims and non-Muslims alike—they welcomed him and fed him with compassion.

However, despite this immense generosity, Davis harbored hatred toward Muslims and their religion. He had brought a cleaver and attacked the mosque's security guard from behind, gashing his flesh. The guard survived by a miracle. Davis did this to vandalize the very place that had taken him in.

The striking part isn't here; the striking part is that the incident took place in 2025, yet it received absolutely no media coverage, and nobody heard about it. But let’s flip the script for a moment: if a Muslim had done this, what do you think the media coverage would have looked like?

The narrative of victimhood doesn't seem to work when the victim is a Muslim.
