The vast majority of humans are not meant to be red-pilled or to make decisions. They are to be funneled into making good decisions without necessarily knowing it through unquestioned cultural norms. This is what a good culture does and why the culture war matters.
What the Rio Grande Presbyery just did to Zachary Garris is why you should make your churches uncomfortable for leftists.
They will always gravitate toward power and control and then use it as a weapon against you.
Every single time.
Historically, male-dominated jobs have always used mutual ribbing as a litmus test - if you couldn't handle the banter, you couldn't handle the job. Not saying the kind of hazing intended to test a lobster fishing rookie should be the norm in church, but if PCA pastors are fragile enough to want to jeopardize a man's livelihood over friction this benign... on what basis are we to argue that Elders should be men?
The final judgment breaks into the present through the deeds of the wicked and the righteous. God's fattening of the wicked for the day of slaughter and his fashioning of the righteous for glory and immortality. The silly actions of Rio Grande is God permitting the cow to put on a few pounds.
@HwsEleutheroi It’s not the polity that is the issue. It’s wicked men. Only men, by the Spirit, guard the deposit. Any polity can be used for evil by evil men.
None of the men who suspended Garris are Christian. They all need to be investigated and brought up on charges. There is plenty of dirt to be dug up. Relentlessly go after them. Put the fear of God in these types of men throughout the denomination. Go on offense.
At trial, the Rio Grande Presbytery (PCA) found Rev. Zachary Garris NOT GUILTY of Charge 1 regarding his comments on slavery from June 2024.
However, Garris was found GUILTY of Charge 2 for “unwholesome speech” per Ephesians 4:29, based on a 2023 interaction on X with Anthony Bradley.
The Presbytery has indefinitely suspended him.
Conservatives only play defense, so they lose to leftist weasels who have no self-policing morality. You have to constantly put the wicked on notice to maintain anything good.
