Remove Non-Working Royals’ Titles, From the LoS and Royal Website
Now can we take the next steps and remove the titles of all non-working royals, remove them from the official Royal Family website and, ultimately, look at their place in the constitutional machinery of the Crown?
A royal title is not a family nickname. Duke, Duchess, Prince and Princess, along with styles such as HRH, carry status, recognition and access because they are attached to the Crown. If someone represents the Sovereign, that privilege comes with responsibility, restrictions and consequences. If they permanently walk away from that responsibility, the institution should not continue presenting them as though nothing has changed.
The Royal Family website says its members work together to support the King in his official duties. So why should people who no longer perform those duties continue to be presented alongside those who do?
Working royals accept the constraints that come with the job. They cannot simply opt out when duty becomes inconvenient, turn the royal name into a commercial asset, or decide when they are representing the Crown and when they are merely private citizens. The two things should not look the same on paper, on the official website or in the public eye.
Harry and Meghan are the clearest example. They stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Their HRH styles were put in abeyance. They were no longer working members of the Royal Family.
Yet the titles remained. The royal association remained. The public and commercial value of being “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” remained.
Meghan sending Jamie Kern Lima a gift basket with a card reading “With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex” is a perfect example. Whatever technical distinction is made about private versus commercial use, the public sees HRH. The royal association is still being invoked.
Now, six years after the Sandringham agreement, the King has had to send another formal communication making clear that Harry and Meghan remain private individuals, that their charitable activities are private, and that their office is separate from the Royal Household.
If the Palace has to keep explaining that people carrying royal titles do not represent the Crown, the arrangement itself needs to be reconsidered.
Sandringham was supposed to prevent a half-in, half-out existence. Six years later, we are still discussing the same grey area.
This should not be about punishing Harry and Meghan. It should be a principle that applies to anyone who permanently leaves the work.
You cannot have working royals accepting the restrictions, scrutiny and obligations of public service while someone who has walked away from the job keeps the same visible markers of status. That undermines the people who stayed and eventually undermines the meaning of the institution itself.
There is also a constitutional question. Harry remains fifth in the line of succession and is still legally a Counsellor of State, although in practice only working royals are called upon. Removing someone from the succession requires legislation. That does not mean the question should be treated as untouchable. If someone has permanently chosen not to serve the Crown, why should the constitutional machinery continue to carry them as though they might one day be required to do so?
The answer cannot always be another polite agreement and another reminder.
Set the boundary. Keep it. Enforce it. If it is crossed, there should be consequences.
The monarchy has to protect the Crown from becoming a branding opportunity for people who have chosen not to carry its responsibilities.
The Royal Family is not a reality show. The Crown is not a commercial brand. And royal privilege without responsibility is just privilege.
If someone no longer does the job, the institution should stop presenting them as though they still belong to the working institution.
Make the separation real.

@JohannKurtz Women r not having kids becoz mothers want the same quality of life as fathers - until they figure out how to cook babies in an oven AND pay mothers, a 401k for mothers if they choose to stay home and raise a family, this situation will not turn around - its not abt no status
@elonmusk Yes - becoz men became weak, didnt protect women, women became masculine 2 protect themselves, found themselves exhausted & angry from overfunctioning trying to do it all, something had to give…unless men level up & reclaim their leadership role in society, humanity WILL die out

@GuntherEagleman She took the wrong fork in the road - shdve fought 4 women 2 b paid 2 b stay at home moms not just 4 working outside the home - society, culture, laws, men wldve evolved - instead men allowed themselves 2 bcome irrelevant & birthrates r collapsing - masculine women dont have kids
@SpeakerPelosi Gloria steinem took the wrong fork in the road - feminism shouldve been abt elevating women not abt women becoming men - she shouldve fought for women 2 b paid 2 b stay at home moms not just 4 working outside the home - society, culture, law wldve evolved - birth rates wld b ok
