This is true.

Every time I visited Elon, his kids were with him. They spend time together, just being a family. It is not only at home. He also brings his kids with him to work sometimes so he can spend more time with them. Even during his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, his kids were with him. That says a lot about his priorities. He makes space for family time even with a busy schedule.

He is a great father. But the media often creates stories and narratives about him that do not match reality. Do not believe everything you see in the news. A lot of coverage is driven by negativity, clicks, and attention rather than truth.

我最近日常都是和监管打交道，所以很多朋友问我当初为什么做Blockchain不选择躲到美国之外去？

其实因为我在美国创业，就是为了能和监管保持沟通。而且我不把沟通看做合规成本，而是护城河的一部分。

第一是因为美国监管是规则塑造者。尤其对于新兴事物，它的规则并不完全写死。大量细节来自判例，行政解释，和实践共识。跟监管建立良好的沟通，可以让创新本身反过来推动监管如何定义边界。

如果躲着监管走，就等于把新领域的规则解释权完全让给未来的执法者。而他们又不理解新的行业创新，那创业者就非常吃亏。

其次躲着走不代表就没问题，而倒是问题会在最坏的时刻爆开。很多人创业可能都会想做大了再说，监管也没找我，或者别人也这么干的。但在美国监管是“可能迟到但从不缺席”。

等到做到了一定规模，历史合规问题会被一次性翻出来清算。美国从来不是不管，而是等你有价值了再管你。

其实美国法律体系里有一个非常重要，但亚洲创业者常忽略的概念 Good Faith。如果我们能证明我们曾主动咨询监管，提交过memo，在灰色地带选择了保守方案，那在未来出现争议时罚款级别可以不同（甚至可以waive掉），个人责任也不同，有没有整改空间也会不同。

很多公司不是死在违规上，而是死在被认定为明知风险却故意规避监管。

和监管沟通的本质其实是校准边界。优秀的监管沟通是我们提出真实业务模型，说明为什么这样做有社会价值，并且主动指出潜在风险点，还能给出自我约束方案。

结果大多数是够不是不让做了，而是会让我们理解了在什么条件下可以做，这对创业来说极其重要。

当然这么做很难，但是就是因为难，也就成了创业者的护城河。
