A shape can extend forever, enclose a finite volume, and still have infinite surface area. Gabriel's horn is formed by rotating y = 1/x around the x-axis for x ≥ 1.
Its radius keeps shrinking. Cross-sectional area shrinks as 1/x², quickly enough for the accumulated volume to converge to π cubic units. The surface area decreases too slowly, and its integral diverges.
