The people you admire-- therapists, writers, leaders, poets, whomever-- don't just admire them. Internalize their vibe. Imagine them on your shoulder when you get triggered, compassionately & steadily talking you through.
Our heroes can be our coaches-- if we remember.
Psilocybin may not simply make the brain more chaotic—it reorganizes brain activity to align with context, including music, meditation, and visual stimuli. A new view of psychedelic states as context-sensitive brain dynamics.

Could medicating every ill and numbing every pain prevent our organisms from healing the way they can?
Our perception and states of mind co-arise with the body’s biological processes. A new beautiful study by @LironRozenkrant and colleagues shows how perception is linked to immune regulation.
Whether people pay attention to the sensations in their arm after an inflammatory challenge, or whether they distract themselves, changes the magnitude and dynamics of the immune response.
Is this a broader principle that applies to other areas of our psychobiology?

Your anxiety didn’t start in adulthood.
It started when you became "The Good One."
You learned to read everyone else’s needs before you could recognize your own.
Years later, you call it your personality.

CPTSD recovery asks us to get real & specific about the labels we've had slapped on us by others-- & the labels we've internalized as part of who we are, but which we didn't choose & don't resonate w/ us.
Turns out many, if not all, of those labels are pure BS-- Belief Systems.
Giving ourselves credit is not about boosting our ego-- it's about creating safety inside.
Our "parts" & inner child need to know they're not going to just get sh*t on regardless of what they do or say. They need to know we have their back, that we're on their side.
I sync, therefore I am: brain–body synchrony in typical and disordered consciousness:
Does consciousness stop at the skull?
A new review in Neuroscience of Consciousness argues that subjective experience depends on a continuous dialogue between brain signals and bodily rhythms (cardiac, respiratory, and gastric). Disrupting these rhythms alters phenomenological experience—marking a fundamental gap between an embodied human and a brain-in-a-vat.

An under appreciated trauma recovery hack is to work w/ your brain & nervous system's natural rhythm, not against it. Work or journal or whatever in 5, 10, or 15 minute chunks-- & then take hydration/movement/art breaks.
Pace & ground yourself. Don't try to plow on through.
