A bald eagle nest discovered on Petty's Island 15 years ago helped launch a plan to convert the former petroleum storage facility into a protected wildlife area. 🦅 The island is scheduled to become a protected nature reserve within the next three years.

Capt. Lt. James Moore died of illness & was buried along the Delaware River on Dec. 25, 1776. The only deceased known by name at Washington Crossing. His original gravestone is in the Washington Crossing Visitor Center. @4TheDelaware
