The Austrian composer Johann Strauss was very popular throughout Europe in the mid-late 1800’s and frequently travelled to Russia to perform summer concerts in June. He was hired by the Pavlovsk railway to help promote their new St.Petersburg-Pavlovsk line, with Strauss holding concerts at the Pavlovsk end. That he fell in love with a Russian girl – and fellow composer, Olga Smirnitskaya, also helped. He also performed some of her works. The summer concerts were a huge success and promoted several ‘Russian’ compositions by Strauss himself. This is his ‘St.Petersburg Quadrille’, which he wrote in honour of Smirnitskaya. Sadly, her parents refused to allow her to marry him, despite his being one of the most famous composers of his day. When this sculpture was unveiled in 1753, people refused to believe it was made of marble.

They were convinced the artist had used alchemy...

The veil draped over the body of Christ was rendered with such impossible precision that the only explanation was that some chemical process had been used to turn a real cloth into stone.

The sculptor was a 33-year-old Neapolitan named Giuseppe Sanmartino. He had carved the entire figure, including the veil, from a single block of white marble.

We know this because the original commission documents survive, preserved in the Historical Archive of the Bank of Naples. A receipt signed by the patron, Prince Raimondo di Sangro, dated 16 December 1752, refers to "the statue of Our Lord in death covered by a veil also of marble."

The patron himself only deepened the mystery: Raimondo di Sangro, Prince of Sansevero, was a Grand Master of the Neapolitan Masonic Lodge and a practicing alchemist...

He had commissioned the sculpture for the Cappella Sansevero, his family chapel in the heart of Naples, a space he had spent his life transforming into one of the strangest interiors in Europe, filled with allegorical statues and symbols of esoteric knowledge.

The legend that he had laid a real cloth over the figure and "marbleized" it through a secret chemical process took root almost immediately. And it has never fully died.

But the truth is stranger than the legend. Sanmartino did this with a hammer and a chisel...

Antonio Canova himself tried to buy the sculpture. According to tradition, when he was unable to, he said he would gladly have given ten years of his life to have produced something of similar perfection.

The Marquis de Sade, passing through Naples, paused to praise "the folds, the finesse of the veil… the beauty, and the regularity of the overall proportions."

The Veiled Christ has not left the city in over 270 years. To see it, you have to go there. I have, and I can tell you that no photograph prepares you for the moment you stand in front of it.

Sculpture, at its highest, really is a kind of alchemy. The transformation of cold stone into real flesh. As Alexander Pope wrote: "Then marble, soften'd into life, grew warm."

Am 22. September verspricht Kasachstans Präsident dem US-Präsidenten eine Wolfram-Mine.

36 Tage später kaufen Trumps Söhne Anteile an der Firma, die sie bekommen wird.

9 Tage später wird der Deal mit 1,6 Milliarden Dollar Steuergeld offiziell.

Drei Mal innerhalb eines Jahres dasselbe Muster: Söhne kaufen ein, Vater liefert den Auftrag.

Im August 2025 steigen Donald Trump Jr. und Eric Trump bei einer kleinen New Yorker Baufirma namens Skyline Builders ein. Sie kaufen über ein Vehikel mit dem Namen American Ventures, einer Tochter von Dominari Securities. Dominari hat die Trump-Söhne Ende 2024 in seinen Beirat geholt. Sie halten dort auch einen Anteil am Mutterkonzern.

Skyline ist zu diesem Zeitpunkt eine unauffällige Holding für asiatisches Baugeschäft. Niemand schreibt darüber.

Am 22. September trifft Kasachstans Präsident Tokayev Donald Trump und sagt ihm zu: Eine US-Investmentgruppe namens Cove Kaz wird das größte unentwickelte Wolfram-Vorkommen der Welt bekommen. Cove Kaz hatte gegen chinesische und russische Bieter konkurriert. Tokayev entscheidet sich für die Amerikaner.

Diese Zusage ist informell. Kein Vertrag, kein offizieller Beschluss. Nur ein Versprechen zwischen zwei Präsidenten.

Am 21. Oktober berichtet die Presse erstmals über diese Vereinbarung.

Sieben Tage danach, am 28. Oktober, schießen die Trump-Söhne weiteres Geld in Skyline nach. Im Rahmen einer Kapitalerhöhung von knapp 24 Millionen Dollar.

Drei Tage später, am 31. Oktober, kauft Skyline für 20 Millionen Dollar einen 20-Prozent-Anteil an einer Firma mit, Zitat aus dem Filing, "bedeutenden Beständen an kritischen Mineralien in Asien". Diese Firma ist Kaz Resources, die Tochter von Cove Capital, die das Wolfram-Projekt entwickeln wird.

Am 6. November verkünden Cove Kaz und Kasachstan den Deal offiziell. 70 Prozent der Mine gehören Cove. 30 Prozent dem kasachischen Staat. Geplante Investitionssumme: 1,1 Milliarden Dollar.

Die US-Regierung steigt mit ein. Die staatliche US-Exportbank gibt eine Zusage über bis zu 900 Millionen Dollar Projektfinanzierung. Die staatliche US-Entwicklungsbank ergänzt das mit bis zu 700 Millionen Dollar. Macht zusammen bis zu 1,6 Milliarden Dollar Steuergeld.

Am 30. April 2026 fusionieren Skyline und Cove Kaz. Das fusionierte Unternehmen geht an die Nasdaq. Geplanter Ticker: KAZR.

Auf keiner einzigen Pressemitteilung tauchen die Namen der Trump-Söhne auf.

Warum Wolfram?

Wolfram ist das Metall mit dem höchsten Schmelzpunkt der Welt. Es steckt in panzerbrechender Munition. In kinetischen Abfangkörpern für Raketenabwehr. In Hyperschallwaffen. In jedem Halbleiter. In F-35-Triebwerken. Christopher Ecclestone, Bergbau-Stratege bei Hallgarten in London, sagt: Das Pentagon will Wolfram um jeden Preis.

China kontrolliert über 80 Prozent der weltweiten Wolfram-Produktion. Im Februar 2025 verhängt Peking Exportbeschränkungen. Die Preise für Ammoniumparawolframat, der internationale Benchmark für Wolfram, springen seitdem um über 40 Prozent.

Die USA haben 2015 die letzte eigene Wolfram-Mine geschlossen. Wer eine neue, verlässliche Quelle anzapfen kann, sitzt auf einer goldenen Ader.

Genau diese Ader bekommen die Söhne des US-Präsidenten. Mitfinanziert mit Steuergeld.

Der Geschäftsführer von Cove Capital, Pini Althaus, sagt der Financial Times wörtlich: Cove habe "direkte Unterstützung von Präsident Trump, Außenminister Marco Rubio und Handelsminister Howard Lutnick" erhalten, um die Mine zu sichern.

Lutnick selbst hat einen persönlichen Brief an den kasachischen Präsidenten geschickt, um den Deal zu unterstützen. Das geht aus einer Investorenpräsentation hervor, die Skyline bei der US-Börsenaufsicht eingereicht hat.

Pini Althaus hat übrigens vor Cove eine andere Mineralienfirma gegründet: USA Rare Earths. Auch sie hat Mitte 2025 über 1,5 Milliarden Dollar an konditionaler US-Staatsförderung erhalten.

Das ist der Hintergrund. Jetzt zum Muster.

Im August 2025 steigt eine Risikokapitalfirma namens 1789 Capital bei einem Startup namens Vulcan Elements ein. Donald Trump Jr. ist dort Partner. Vulcan stellt Magnete aus Seltenen Erden her.

Drei Monate später, im Dezember 2025, bekommt Vulcan einen Pentagon-Kredit über 620 Millionen Dollar. Plus 50 Millionen Dollar als Eigenkapitalbeteiligung der US-Regierung. Es ist der größte Kredit, den das zuständige Pentagon-Büro für strategisches Kapital je vergeben hat. Trumps Executive Order 14241 hatte zuvor die Pflicht zur unabhängigen technischen Prüfung solcher Vergaben aufgehoben.

Im März 2026 steigen die Trump-Söhne bei einem Drohnenhersteller namens Powerus ein. Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg, ehemaliger Sicherheitsberater des Vizepräsidenten, sitzt im Beirat. Wenige Wochen später startet die US-Regierung ein Drohnenprogramm mit einem Budget von 1,1 Milliarden Dollar. Powerus will Aufträge daraus ziehen. Der geplante Börsenticker der Firma: PUSA.

Jetzt Cove Kaz. KAZR. 1,6 Milliarden Dollar Steuergeld.

Drei Fälle. Zwölf Monate. Dasselbe Muster.

Das Wall Street Journal hat die Trump-Familien-Geschäfte seit der Wiederwahl auf insgesamt mindestens vier Milliarden Dollar Erlöse und Papiervermögen geschätzt. Krypto, Drohnen, Seltene Erden, Wolfram, Bitcoin Mining, Prediction Markets. Eric Trump hat in einem Interview gesagt, sie hätten in der ersten Amtszeit "keinen Dank für ihre Zurückhaltung bekommen". Diesmal halten sie sich nicht zurück.

Im März 2026 versuchen Demokraten im Kongress, Donald Trump Jr. per gerichtlicher Vorladung zu zwingen, unter Eid zum Vulcan-Deal auszusagen. Republikaner blockieren die Abstimmung im Ausschuss.

Die rechtliche Bewertung dessen wird Jahre dauern. Zwei Dinge stehen aber jetzt schon fest.

Erstens: Wer in den USA steuerpflichtig ist, finanziert über Mehrheitsstrukturen einen Bergbau-Deal in Kasachstan, an dem die Söhne des Präsidenten beteiligt sind. Ohne dass diese Beteiligung in den offiziellen Pressemitteilungen erwähnt wird.

Zweitens: Wenn dasselbe Muster in einem Jahr drei Mal auftritt, ist es kein Zufall. Es ist eine Methode.

BREAKING: Während die Schlagzeilen über den die Straße von Hormus laufen, passiert im Hintergrund etwas, was es seit der Ölkrise 1973 nicht mehr gegeben hat.

Eines der mächtigsten Kartelle der Welt verliert sein drittstärkstes Mitglied.

Nicht weil ihm das Geld ausgeht, sondern weil es endlich Geld machen will.

Am 1. Mai verlässt die UAE die OPEC und OPEC+. Nach 59 Jahren. Gründungsmitglied seit 1967, vier Jahre bevor das Land selbst gegründet wurde.

Was niemand erwähnt: Die UAE hat eine Förderkapazität von 4,85 Millionen Barrel pro Tag. Ihre OPEC-Quote liegt bei 3,2 Millionen. Heißt: Über 1,5 Millionen Barrel pro Tag werden seit Jahren künstlich zurückgehalten. Jeden Tag. Bei einem Brent-Preis von 111 Dollar.

Rechne das hoch.

ADNOC, der staatliche Ölkonzern der UAE, hat in den letzten Jahren über 122 Milliarden Dollar investiert, um die Kapazität auf 5 Millionen Barrel pro Tag zu schrauben. Ziel war 2027. Sie sind drei Jahre früher fertig.

Diese Kapazität war eine Drohung gegen das Kartell. Jetzt ist sie eine Waffe.

Der Konflikt schwelt seit 2021. Damals hat die UAE bei einem OPEC+ Treffen die Verhandlungen platzen lassen. Forderung: höhere Quote, weil die alten Berechnungen die echte Förderkapazität nicht widerspiegeln. Saudi-Arabien hat blockiert. Ein Kompromiss wurde gefunden, der nichts gelöst hat.

Seitdem hat die UAE etwas Bemerkenswertes getan: Sie hat ihre eigene Öl-Infrastruktur gebaut, die OPEC nicht braucht.

2020 wurde an der ICE Futures Abu Dhabi der Murban-Futures-Kontrakt gestartet. Murban ist die Hauptsorte der UAE und macht die Hälfte ihrer Förderung aus. Erstmals wird Öl aus einem Golfstaat als freier Terminkontrakt gehandelt, ohne Restriktionen, ohne Endabnehmer-Klauseln. Lieferung in Fudschaira, am Golf von Oman, hinter der Straße von Hormuz.

Das ist die strategische Pointe.

Die UAE hat einen Ölhafen aufgebaut, der nicht durch Hormuz muss. Sie hat einen Benchmark geschaffen, der mit Brent und WTI konkurrieren soll. Sie hat ein Pipelinesystem zum Roten Meer und zum Indischen Ozean. Und sie hat in den letzten Jahren leise alle Bausteine zusammengesetzt, um eines Tages allein operieren zu können.

Dieser Tag ist heute.

Das Timing ist kein Zufall. Die OPEC-Produktion ist im März wegen des Hormuz-Kriegs um 9,4 Millionen Barrel pro Tag eingebrochen. Laut IEA der größte Supply-Schock der Geschichte. Größer als die Ölkrise der 70er. Größer als der Golfkrieg 1991. Größer als der Corona-Einbruch 2020.

Wenn er recht hat, werden die nächsten zehn Jahre des Ölmarkts völlig anders aussehen als die letzten fünfzig.

A Persian scholar finished a single math book in 9th century Baghdad that quietly became the foundation for every line of code running on Earth today.

I started reading about him at midnight and could not believe how many things in my daily life trace back to one man.

His name was Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi. The book is called The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing.

Every time you say the word algebra, you are saying his book title. Every time someone says the word algorithm, they are saying his name. Both English words come from him. Both are Latin transliterations of Arabic and of his own identity. The man did not just contribute to mathematics. He named it.

Here is the part almost nobody tells you.

Al-Khwarizmi was born around 780 CE in Khwarazm, in what is now Uzbekistan. He moved to Baghdad and worked at a research institution called the House of Wisdom, which during the Islamic Golden Age was the single most important center of learning on the planet. The caliph al-Mamun hired the best mathematicians, astronomers, and philosophers from across three continents and put them in one building with one job. Translate, study, and produce new knowledge.

Al-Khwarizmi finished his book on algebra around 820 CE. The Arabic title contained the word al-jabr, which referred to one of the two operations he used to solve equations. When the book was translated into Latin in the 12th century, the Latin world did not have a word for what he had built. So they kept his Arabic word. Al-jabr became algebra. The discipline was named after a single Arabic word in the title of a single book by a single man.

The deeper insight is what he actually changed about how humans think.

Before al-Khwarizmi, mathematical problems were solved geometrically. You drew shapes. You measured them. You compared areas. The Greeks had built an entire mathematical tradition on visual proofs and physical constructions. It was beautiful and limited. You could not solve a problem you could not draw.

Al-Khwarizmi did something nobody had done before him at this scale. He said you could solve any problem using abstract symbols and rules. You did not need a shape. You needed a procedure. You moved terms across the equation. You cancelled like terms on both sides. You isolated the unknown. He invented the idea that mathematics is a manipulation of symbols according to rules, not a study of physical figures.

That single shift made everything that came afterward possible. Calculus. Differential equations. Linear algebra. Quantum mechanics. None of it works if math is locked inside geometry. He pulled it out.

The second thing he did is the one that changed how the world counted forever. He took the Hindu numeral system from Indian mathematics, refined it, and wrote a book introducing it to the Arab world. That system included the concept of zero as a placeholder, and a positional notation where the value of a digit depends on its location. Roman numerals could not do complex calculation. Hindu-Arabic numerals could.

When his book on numerals was translated into Latin as Algoritmi de numero Indorum, the word Algoritmi was just the Latin spelling of his own name. Europeans started calling the new method "doing algorism," then "running an algorithm." The word for the most important concept in computer science is literally his name in Latin.

The third thing he did is the part that should haunt anyone who works in tech.

His method of solving problems was systematic. Step one, do this. Step two, check that. Step three, if condition A, then do X, otherwise do Y. He wrote down procedures that could be followed by anyone, anywhere, who knew how to read. The procedure did not depend on intuition or genius. It worked because the steps worked.

That is exactly what an algorithm is. A finite, deterministic procedure for solving a problem. He did not just give us the word. He gave us the entire concept of programming a thousand years before there was anything to program.

When Alan Turing built the first abstract model of computation in 1936, when John von Neumann designed the first stored-program computer in 1945, when every engineer at Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, and DeepMind writes code in 2026, they are working in a paradigm that started with one man in Baghdad twelve centuries ago.

The strangest part is what happens when you walk into any tech office in San Francisco or Bangalore or Lahore today. Engineers say the words algebra and algorithm hundreds of times a day. They do not know whose name they are saying. Almost nobody can spell al-Khwarizmi correctly on the first try.

His original Arabic manuscript is preserved at Oxford. His book on Hindu numerals survives only in Latin translation. The Latin version was the textbook that taught medieval Europe how to count.

The man who built the foundation of the AI revolution did not live to see a calculator. He died around 850 CE, a thousand years before the first electric current was sent through a wire. The civilization he built mathematics for collapsed. The library he wrote in burned. His own grave is unmarked.

But every algorithm running on every machine on Earth right now still answers to his name.
