Cuttle and Chubs are going to be studying and collecting some new art, diving deep into it, and sharing our appreciation for it.

Rules:

A reflection from Cuttle on Art and Markets:

Know something pretty deep about our monkey jpegs?

Artists are forged in the true Samadhi fire of the Art Market.

It can feel brutal at times. Especially when they are full time, independent artists.

It is so easy for an artist to feel down, out, unappreciated, unloved, unseen, when their collectors and Patrons haven't found them yet.

My invitation to Artists:

1. Know that if you keep creating and putting out signal, your Tribe, your Crew, your Patrons, one day will find you Coming Soon (TM)

2. Meditate on the fact that the Market may feel hard, and also there are lessons to be learned from pain. Do you know what you can do if your art hasn't been collected yet in a way that allows you to support yourself full time on art?

Give it away! Do interesting experiments!

Make your Art into a Fundraiser for the 6529 Network Museum, or for some other worthy cause you love with your whole heart.

Use your Art for Public Goods funding for causes you care about.

Because at the end of the day, it is not about your own name or reputation. It is about making art into a unit of cultural transmission - a Meme, in a way that lets your message fly and find its way to others, powered by the Chain and self custody.

We might hope to support ourselves entirely on ETH from our Art. That is a Noble aspiration to have.

AND

I can personally assure you of one fact that is True with a Capital T:

Sometimes Mr. Market does not Truly understand how or why your Art is brilliant.

In a really hilarious way so so so funny.

Maybe Mr. Market is more concerned about Names and Appearances. Maybe the vast majority of people on the planet, are so concerned with Names and Appearances and Fame and Power, that they are BLINDED to the value of Art that is sitting there hiding in plain sight. 😘

Mr. Market might be completely Blind in a way that is a very shocking thing and blasts every nerve, every cell, even the cells in the marrow of my bones (h/t to a real Legend Krishnamurti).

If you are creating and pouring your very Soul into your art, it can feel so disheartening when you don't "catch a bid."

It is like Mr. Market doesn't value your Soul, and so you might feel like your Soul is worthless.

Like your Worthlessness is PROVED by the Blindness of Mr. Market.

I am here to tell you, my dear friends who are Artists, Creatives, Entrepreneurs, Creators, Freaks, Weirdos, and Unforgettable Clowns, like Tim Curry in Rocky Horror:

The most important thing you can do is keep creating and pouring your soul into your Art.

Let the Market of Hype and ART HISTORY: VOLUMES I - X forge you into a being of greater Spiritual Strength. Like the Monkey King was forged into an Immortal God by the Eight Trigram Furnance in 西遊記 Journey to the West.

Know how Monkey King became a God?

He gave himself permission and grabbed the Crown of Thorns, and he embraced the bleeding and pain.

Keep studying. Learn from other Artists. Ask them about their Practice and WHY a piece means to them.

Why is just as important as What, afterall.

Turn into a spiritual meditation:

The study of People and Identities you Respect.

Instead of only looking at a piece they share on X, go to someone's website and read every page of it.

See what you learn about someone else's creative practice when you see their work in context.

It's like reading a beautiful series of books - sometimes you learn more from reading the entire series than only skimming VOLUME I.

With this precious, sacred fuel for your creativity, iterate and experiment with your Art in the market.

Do experiments and write about them. Share about them, and what you learned from them. Make experiments that will challenge you and put you into a zone of discomfort to see what you learn.

We must Learn from Discomfort. As a practice and meditation, and be forged by it.

Pour the fire into your Art.

Use your Fire to Celebrate and Elevate others, because that is a beautiful way to turn burning into Beauty.

3. Never, ever, ever give up Hope.

Your day will come.

Keep creating. Honor your friends and family with your Art.

Honor moments of Loss and Happiness you have lived, with your Art.

Never give up.

And remember to Breathe, because it is both a Marathon and a Sprint.

And because of that we must run like it's a Marathon instead of a sprint so we don't become Overloaded and collapse.

Chubby and I will be appreciating and studying art here, and sharing it on our timelines. We might ask questions and interview artists in these threads.

After a 24 hour period, we will choose a few pieces, and hope that in our own smol way, we can Celebrate and Elevate Artists, and help with visibility.

If you understand the purpose of this exercise, you will understand that the true value is in being seen and understood by the Market, if it is not totally blind.

It is not even slightly about ETH.

We must make enough ETH to put food on our tables, and anything above and beyond that is icing on the cake.

The True value is in developing as a person, as an artist, and in being forged into something stronger through that process.

Keep creating, Celebrating, and Elevating.
