In a wild twist, the NDP just won the Calgary-Shaw provincial by-election by a very slim margin of just 582 votes.
At the same time, 978 votes went to the Progressive Tory Party, meaning the NDP was able to shoot up the middle amid a split on the right.
Our sources in the party also tell us that voter turnout was very low, signalling that this by-election simply wasn’t on the radar of many voters.
Here is what really stands out: 582 votes is a tiny margin. Statistically, that number of votes could potentially have been found with just two or three more highly active volunteers.
Once again, this illustrates just how critical the ground game is in these battleground elections.
In next year’s Alberta provincial election, we expect there could be 15–20 critical swing ridings where the winner may be determined by fewer than 500 votes.
We continue to be convinced that the future of Alberta — which will dramatically influence the future of Canada — could come down to volunteers getting involved in critical swing ridings.
We are honoured to serve by helping make that involvement as easy as possible.
If you want to help ensure great candidates get elected, please swing by **https://t.co/OjgqzTyfco** today, sign up for our email list, and watch for future opportunities to volunteer — whether **in person or over the phone from anywhere in Canada**.

Long Covid may actually be vaccine injury. Dr. James Thorpe | A respected doctor with a long list of accomplishments, was in over 250 published papers. | Sign the petition at https://t.co/ArvuQBI6gj #VaccineInjury#LongCOVID#HealthMisinformation#MedicalStudy
The first four hours of testimony from the Allison Inquiry, examining COVID-19 vaccine injuries, were absolutely riveting and eye-opening.
More than 1,800 were watching live on our stream and theirs.
The inquiry heard from U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, who has been leading the way in asking tough questions south of the border. The discussions addressed concerns about an alleged cover-up, information reportedly contained in the Fauci diaries, medical findings, the effects on children and mental health, and—most importantly—the experiences of those who say they were harmed.
The Canadian government has already acknowledged that COVID-19 vaccine injuries can occur, yet thousands of Canadians remain uncompensated or feel their experiences have not been adequately acknowledged. This inquiry is giving an important voice to those who feel they have been gaslit, ignored, and, in some cases, irreparably harmed after following government advice.
Please follow the inquiry at https://t.co/NafZ4RGYvt. They are currently taking a break but will return shortly.
4 My Canada has also launched a petition supporting Canadians who have experienced vaccine injuries. Visit https://t.co/0674fX0W2U to sign.
When you sign, an email will automatically be sent to members of the House of Commons Health Committee and key cabinet ministers responsible for this issue. Prime Minister Mark Carney and Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre will also be copied.
This simple action takes only a couple of minutes, but it can have a powerful impact if we all raise our voices together.
@DeanAllisonMP is courageously steps to the forefront of the COVID-19 vaccine injury conversation this week on Parliament Hill. The Allison Inquiry begins tomorrow in Ottawa. Be sure to tune in at https://t.co/IR0g2zCrOj
