@RamonaQuimby91@freedom_007__ Uriah Heep was unctous. @piersmorgan does not fit that description at all. He is the opposite of that surely ? Combative and confrontational in style? Also not officious, much more libertine in attitude? Also, he was very wronged, losing his job on GMB over his free speech.
@Jancarman62@GeriPerna Mine too. I found it heartbreaking when she had gone finding all the beautiful perfectly ironed linen tablecloths and napkins we never used. 💔
@TRHLadyThalia Also the judgement in a court case of Harry’s is due today so commenting on it from BP would look like the RF were involved when it’s nothing to do with them. It would be constitutional confusion, so much clearer if BP not involved.
@lollyvjohnson@ofootball__ I am English but Norway’s football has been so enthralling I have been rooting for them and Haarland! Now conflicted. Also, now rooting for France after that dreadful Paraguay performance against them as they held their nerve. #WorldCup
This World Cup is the best ever.
Stadiums packed to the rafters across the USA, Canada & Mexico with brilliant supporters mixing within many different football fan cultures. The best players all on fire - Messi, Mbappé, Haaland & Kane. So many great matches. The gap between the old football superpowers and the underdog international teams has narrowed. It’s bigger, bolder, and more entertaining than anything we’ve seen before. Ignore the shenanigans of FIFA. Just celebrate what the beautiful game ⚽️ should always be about - the fans and the players.

This might just be Erling Haaland's World Cup.
Norway's leading man scores twice to knock Brazil out and send his country through to their first-ever men's World Cup quarter-final. The first a cracking header, the second an unerring strike from outside the box.
Seven goals in four World Cup matches. Sixty-two goals in 54 international caps. Truly astonishing numbers.
It's the first time Brazil have failed to reach the quarter-final stage of the World Cup since 1990. Neymar's late penalty proved to be nothing more than consolation for Carlo Ancelotti's side. Bruno Guimaraes will rue his spot kick, which was saved by Orjan Nyland.
It's England or Mexico for Norway in the quarter-final in Miami on July 11.
Sometimes I think we don’t say it enough…
Thank you to the Middleton family.
Thank you for raising a daughter who has shown such grace, kindness, resilience and quiet strength through every season of life. Catherine is a credit to the love, values and stability she grew up with, and it shows in everything she does.
And thank you for giving William not just a wonderful wife, but a family who welcomed and supported him as one of their own. The warmth, normality and unwavering support the Middletons have provided over the years have undoubtedly been a blessing to him.
The Middleton family should be incredibly proud of Catherine and of the example they’ve set. ♥️
🚨Arsène Wenger on Galarza’s challenge on Kylian Mbappé:
🗣️ “I have watched the incident several times, and I honestly don’t understand how that wasn’t punished more severely. Football is a physical game, yes, but there is a difference between being competitive and making a challenge that puts another player’s safety at risk.
For me, Galarza was never in control of that challenge. There was no real attempt to win the ball cleanly, and when you go into a tackle like that, you accept the risk of seriously hurting your opponent.
In my opinion, it should have been a straight red card. That is exactly why VAR exists—not to create controversy, but to correct obvious mistakes and protect the players.
What worries me is the inconsistency we’ve seen with officiating throughout this World Cup. One match, a similar incident is punished immediately. In another, the referee allows play to continue. Players deserve clarity. Coaches deserve consistency. Supporters deserve confidence that the same rules apply to everyone.
Mbappé was fortunate to continue, but next time another player may not be so lucky. These decisions have consequences, and I believe the officials should have acted much more decisively.”
🚨 Jose Mourinho on Galarza's challenge on Kylian Mbappé:
🗣️ “I don't understand what Galarza was thinking. There was no football reason to make that challenge. It was unnecessary, reckless, and the kind of action that puts an opponent at risk.
For me, that is violent conduct, and it should have been punished with a straight red card. These are the situations where VAR has to step in and help the referee make the correct decision.
What concerns me even more is the inconsistency we continue to see with officiating at this World Cup. Every match seems to bring another controversy, and that is not good for the game. FIFA and the refereeing team have to be more consistent because players, coaches, and supporters deserve better.”
@JamesMelville The worst display I ‘ve seen this world cup. How were all the physical attacks on the french players ignored by the referee? After watching Cap Verde last night who earned respect this was a shock. No respect for Paraguay. #PARFRA
Met Police madness strikes again.
Two Metropolitan Police officers tracked down photographer Alastair Hilton while he was enjoying a pint with a friend at a pub in Chiswick to warn him about his critical tweets concerning a local Green Party councillor.
Mr Hilton feared he was about to be arrested when officers asked him to step outside the pub for a conversation. He had been celebrating a local victory over the Labour-run council’s plans affecting outdoor seating at three riverside pubs.
As so often happens in these cases, the officers acknowledged that no crime had been committed. Nevertheless, one of them read out provisions of the Crime and Policing Act 2026, warning Mr Hilton that he could be arrested if he crossed the line.
Mr Hilton said: “They admit on video that I did not break the law at all. They came to threaten me. To warn me off tweeting about councillors and the council. This is modern Britain. This is the police state. Police coming out to threaten someone who hasn’t committed a crime. I’m fuming.”
It is another example of the Metropolitan Police unnecessarily involving themselves in the lawful speech of British citizens. It also adds to growing concerns about two-tier policing. Mr Hilton told officers that, just weeks earlier, his daughter had experienced an attempted burglary while she slept at home, yet he claimed the police refused to attend.
Top Gear star James May, who lives in west London, also voiced his support for Mr Hilton, tweeting: “I’m genuinely interested to know if you’ve woken up in the gulag. Bang on the pipes if you need us to batter the door down with a pub bench.”
Once again, the Metropolitan Police appear more interested in policing lawful speech online than tackling real crime.
The dispute began after Mr Hilton campaigned against the Labour-run council’s plans affecting outdoor eating and drinking at local pubs. On social media, he alleged that the original complaint about the outdoor seating had been made by Green Party councillor Rick Rowe, a claim Mr Rowe denies.

The police have apparently “warned” Alastair about him putting out this post, apparently at the behest of the Councillor of which he complains, even though they admit it’s legal & the Cllr’s home isn’t shown. Therefore important that the post has the widest possible circulation.
