It all could have went very different for Iran if:

- It had no missiles & drones able to penetrate opponents defenses and answer back...
↪️ 🇺🇲 + 🇮🇱 would have certainly hit Powerplants & bridges

- It had no 60% enriched weaponizable Uranium...
↪️ Entirely possible that it's Missile Cities & Nuclear sites would have been hit by chemical or even tactical nuclear weapons

- It had no persistent & credible control over the Strait of Hormuz on which world economy depends...
↪️ A U.S. naval & economic blockade could have put Iran under siege without any leverage to counter it with time on its side

- It had no super-hardened Missile & Drone Cities...
↪️ U.S. & Israeli stand-off missile power, and Airpower, would have neutralized Iran's capability to hit back at will and persistently

- It had no ambush-type air-defenses to hold opposing Airpower at risk...
↪️ 🇺🇲 & 🇮🇱 Airpower with low-cost guided bombs could have suppressed Missile & Drone launch operations and badly degrade Iran's missile launcher fleet

➡️ Only the combination of all of this, and more, lead to the outcome we witnessed

Iran's missile strikes today showed how 3 out of 4 🇮🇷 Missiles penetrated Patriot PAC-3 defenses at a key 🇺🇸 base in Jordan

6 PAC-3 were launched for one successful interception

➡️ Effectively 6 x $4 million = $24 million were spend to neutralize one ~150k dollar Kheybar-Shekan-2(?)
Result: An exchange-ratio of 160-times

➡️ This is not sustainable
PAC-3 are not low-cost Israeli Tamir ($ 100k +) but a high-end, very difficult and time-intensive to produce interceptors.
Literally money can't buy then in the number one wishes

With these types of strikes, Iran creates a political leverage too.
Because once the luxury capability of ballistic missile defense is unavailable at even a few critical sites
➡️ Fighting against Iran becomes virtually impossible

The C-SAR op to extract the F-15 WSO is certainly a good success for the U.S.

But let's not oversell it:

- He was in a sparsely populated, periphery province of Iran
- in 21st century with GPS and satellite phones, the rescuers had a big advantage
- The first, daytime attempt failed and led to two damaged Blackhawks, one crash landing, a lost A-10 and injured crews
- The nighttime 2nd operation exploited darkness with known position

➡️ So hiding in the wilderness of a remote region for two days, while knowing your position and communicating with your forces is an advantageous situation.
Being just 50-100km from Iran's borders is major another advantage.

But credit where its due, after the costly first failed attempt, lessons were learned and effectively applied.
