No Clarity, No Edge
(by Kyna Kosling)
How the hell are you going to trade without understanding?
You think you can just "follow" and "copy" your way to success?
Know what's important to YOU, stay calm and focus.
Be mindful in your practice.
@PeterLBrandt Agreed. My main focus the past 20 years is minimizing losses and cutting losses asap. The winning trades will always take care of themselves
Breakouts work best when market is coming out of extreme oversold conditions, they start falling when everyone starts kissing their cousins. That is how momentum trading works best.
It’s easy to get stuck in idea generation mode.
Scrolling social media until you find that ‘perfect’ strategy, indicator, setup, etc.
…then inevitably discovering it isn’t perfect, so you keep scrolling for the next idea.
Many people stay stuck in that loop — never going through the resistance of digging deeper, pushing yourself to get uncomfortable as you figure out the mechanics of the idea so you can make it your own.
But that’s where the real magic happens.
When you find an idea that resonates, go deeper. Ask questions (especially ‘why’). Pull the idea apart. Figure out what makes it work. Develop true clarity into the idea.
It’s the only way you’ll make it work for YOU. Perhaps with even more potency than for the person you learnt it from.
You’ll study with considerably more focus if you’re clear about what you’re trying to achieve. What stage are you at?
• Idea generation — not sure what to do next.
• Idea clarity — you found your direction, so must go from broad to deep.
• Idea refinement — you truly understand what makes it tick, and are now refining the details to make it work for YOU.
Idea generation is always the easy part.
But most resist the resistance that comes afterwards, often lacking the curiosity (+ focus and patience) that leads to true depth, and the problem-solving skills and creativity to adapt it to your own needs.
@chartsdb@PradeepBonde Fair question. Over the last 3 years, I've read 30–40 books on trading, spent ~600 hours studying Qullamaggie, built a 1,000+ hour database, and done my own research on multiple strategies.

My Letting Go after 20+Years, & the ensuing +1500%
~ My Trading Journey
My personal documentation is finally here, after some procrastination, worrying about imperfection, and spending a couple minutes looking for the publish button on the substack. Due to the sheer volume to process, I have to break it down to 4 parts for easier editing and reading.
The documentation is in the form of rearrangement and further elaboration on my X posts (you know I have been ranting a lot on almost everything, sometimes without restraint).
Trading is a tough business. I am stepping into age 54 this month, and I nearly quit in 2022 after 20+ years of struggle. I know how hard and mentally shattering it is. The funny thing is that only after I nearly quit, my personal pivotal point can really begin, and I learn and progress the most in this few years about trading (or more appropriately investing?) and about almost everything else in life.
Not everyone is that lucky to have a mentor who truly take care of your interests when you first started trading. My kids are still in their teens, and they are my motivation and target readers. I have their interests at heart when I write the documentation, but whether they will listen to me is surely another story!
It is important to know that this documentation will not give you the holy grail or the answers to all your questions. You still have to find them yourself - an important message in the documentation is that ultimately you must find your own path.
Lastly, I have learned so much from all you guys from your sharing and interactions, that I can absorb them into my process, and I thank you all for being a part of my journey!
Happy reading ~😉

@taneja_himanshu@PradeepBonde I started at 17 while still in high school. My father is a farmer, and we were already carrying a large loan. In my situation, protecting what little we had mattered more than chasing quick profits. I had no capital to risk, so I invested the only thing I had ,my time. ☺️
@MAC2025@PradeepBonde Execution is essential—I agree. But risking real money without understanding the market isn't learning, it's gambling. I chose to build a solid foundation first. Now comes execution.
@TrendrTradr@PradeepBonde I don't think I wasted 3 years. I invested them. Three years ago, I didn't even know what buy & sell meant. Today, I understand every part of my trading foundation after thousands of hours of study. Results take time.
