For those who haven't yet figured out what's going on with the US Senate, and specifically the GOP Senate failures, here it is: the majority of GOP Senators are anti-Trump.
So how do they oppose Trump without jeopardizing their reelection chances? They pick an anti-Trump Senate leader - Thune - from a state where he faces no significant threat to reelection. He can oppose Trump, take the heat, and still be reelected.
Thune has stalled the SAVE Act, judicial nominees, and administrative appointments - withstanding immense pressure from Republican voters to act. Basically, he's become the face of the Trump Resistance. He's doing exactly what the majority of GOP Senators want him to do, but are too cowardly to openly admit. I knew as soon as Thune was chosen that this was the plan.
So buckle up: we have a Senate GOP majority willing to risk our country's future survival to keep fighting against their enemy - Trump. The Senate no longer acts in the interest of our country; it acts to end Trump while saving themselves. Sad.
@jpodhoretz Fine. Let's go back to the welfare programs before 1924, which is to say NO welfare. The immigrants who came here in the 1880 to 1924 period had to work or starve. Today, millions come just for the freebies.
@USCCB Oh nonsense. The Clinton Foundation, under the superb management of Hillary Clinton, has turned Haiti into a paradise with $billions of NGO $money. Right?
