Some Corey Conners notes from Thursday...

Per @JustinRayGolf, all of the previous Masters winners were T11 or better after R1. Conners is T9 and five back. Certainly not out of it.

Three-putted the first hole but had two instances of really well-timed tee shots on par-3s. Both his tee shot on No.6 and on No.16 finished about two feet away. 6 came early, to get back to even par. 16 came after a wind gust stopped his approach on 14 dead short (leading to bogey) and the opposite-direction wind gust blew his approach on 15 a touch long (leading to par on the par-5).

His par-saving putt on 18 was SICK. A slippery tester that definitely made dinner taste good.

Hitting his driver and irons great, and putting fine. Will obviously need to make a few more on Friday but is back where he feels comfortable and he's, again, inside the top 10 at the Masters.

This is crazy. It's almost more of an ego move rejecting an HOF vote. And like he said he waited all the way till he got nominated. Nobody outside STL would have known about it and now everybody knows about it. I don't know what to think about this
