@ESPNRefNHL If it wasn’t a kick that changes everything. Do you think it would ever be feasible to not have a “call on the ice” and fully let a play like this be determined in the review room?
Side note: The game is so fast and getting the puck into the net is hard enough.
@ESPNRefNHL Was the “kicking motion“ rule interpreted tonight that Hellybuyck was not attempting to react/save a puck he thought was headed towards the goal?
It is hard to understand how the off-ice review created a gray area between “a goalie saving motion” and stick handling.
@ESPNRefNHL We’ll add to the list of things to check on in a few years. It came to mind when watching the morning broadcast and remembering why Hartman was out.
@ESPNRefNHL@whyhockey Perhaps you have to request a review and “Toronto” seems if the play is eligible or not based on a set of specific criteria?
