There was never a moment before today that Juan Atkins was not a vital part of the American electronic music scene. Juan Atkins was a dynamic force, an embodiment of the underground techno movement and the young black musicians from Detroit who created it.

[5 Mag Dot Net @5Magazine]

As techno today dominates the global music scene in places he couldn’t have imagined, Atkins must be recognized as one of the most important Detroit artists since the dawn of Motown — certainly since Motown decamped for Los Angeles in the early 1970s.

Pioneer is warning of a major security threat which affects EVERY CDJ on the market and EVERY installation of Rekordbox. This is on your laptop, desktop and on your phone, too. There are other products involved as well.

Do you use Rekordbox or CDJs? We do too, and we just found out our data can be read by anyone thanks to a security exploit in Pioneer's DJ PRO LINK software.

The Ultimate Synth 🎹

Magnolia is a West Coast analog FM synth which evokes the era of Bob Moog, Dave Smith and other towering founder/engineers who built companies for creating instruments that they themselves wanted to use.

[5 Mag Dot Net @5Magazine]

It’s not just the circuits that make it shine: Magnolia is a tank in an era dominated by the rise of the mini-synths. Its warm, honey-colored casing evokes a distinctly ’70s aesthetic and Frap’s insistence on quality extends all the way down to the keyboard.
