“This past year I have noticed my sound has shifted towards a more barebones, more direct version of techno. I think this shift has come simultaneously with my general outlook on music, I don’t really feel like this day and age calls for pretty melodies and polished sounds. I’ve started to crave the fringes where things start falling apart, or where the droning kick becomes relentless yet still hypnotic. My setup is limited in sound palette, but I try to make up for it in drive and motion. This set is definitely not polished and sometimes it derails into unbearable screeching, but that’s part of the deal I guess :) anyway, enjoy!” - Colin

It’s also been a while since I’ve focused on a podcast and I’ve grown more confident in my style: colourful and sinister with a seductive twang. I focused on contrast, depth, and flow. It’s tempting to approach a podcast like you’re at a club, but that’s already quite challenging when you’re in a studio alone, with no energy to feed off except your own. The track Tresor, for example, is quite long, and I debated splitting it into 3 separate tracks. I feel like these tracks kind of belong together because they tell these stories of these different vivid impressions. '

The track stands as one of her most personal works, created as a tribute to her mother who passed away in early 2025. ’Under The Ocean' presents itself as an electronic dream, with soundscapes that conceptually follow Ellen's mother as she travels through sonic realms. The production combines Allien's distinctive techno sensibilities with emotional depth, designed to be played "on the most beautiful dance floors" around the world—a way for the artist to bring her mother's presence to every performance.

"I wanted to make a track that I can play in my DJ sets, because then my mother is also with me when I perform," explains Allien. "She was at my first DJ show, dancing in front of me, and always supported me. This is my way of creating a beautiful reminder of her and what she means to me."
