5Mailay Aur Unkay Thailay is a collective of passionate Islamabadis working to inculcate civic responsibility in people through safai drives. Join us! #5mailay
Standing ankle deep a trench full of trash, using their hands when shovels ran out, the students of FAST Uni swiftly attacked this monstrous pile of garbage at our safai drive last week. Couldn’t clean it all due to lack of time but we’ll be back!
Watch yo’ back, pile o’ trash!
Great to see nullahs being cleaned after years of neglect! We hope cleanup efforts will be followed by strict measures & awareness raising to stop citizens from throwing in more trash. #cleangreenislamabad
Thorough cleaning is being done today in nullahs of Islamabad. In continuation, sector F-6 nullah is being cleared from unwanted waste materials using machinery. Also, staff is working in different areas for clearance of littering issues.
Recently, 5Mailay participated in an exciting collaboration with Din Dhalay. We got a chance to discuss the growing problem of waste disposal and waste management problem in Islamabad, and how so many of us are oblivious to the trash that surrounds us.
We invited Sarfraz Saab from the CDA Sanitation Dept to talk about his work cleaning the streets of Isb, and how we have a responsibility as inhabitants of this city to keep it clean.
All attendees left with a keepsake bag filled with seeds. Let's keep our city clean AND green!

Slowly but surely getting back into it! This area of F10 Markaz was much cleaner than we've ever seen it, which was a pleasant surprise. Dark stains on the road clearly indicate where trash was present recently, but has now been been picked up.
Small litter is still litter, and accumulates into bigger piles of trash. We need to inculcate a sense of responsibility in ourselves and our community to produce less waste, and find ways to dispose off of our trash properly.
Did you stay clean during quarantine? Time to find out!

It's best to avoid communal spaces like office kitchens & shared crockery right now, to reduce the risk of spreading COVID. Plus reusable cups are much better for the environment than single-use ones. Stay safe, reduce waste! ♻️

Many of us have started going back to offices. While the number of COVID cases in Pakistan has fallen, it is still important to be cautious.
But everyone needs their morning caffeine hit. So we recommend taking your own reusable cup for all your chai/coffee/kawa needs!
