jesus fucking christ why isn't this a national story? they can cover twitch streamers for months but a congressional candidate getting raped in a politically charged assault barely cracks the local headlines??
Here's the thing..."it likely breaks federal laws" (it does) - but who is going to do anything about it? No one. We live in a country right now that is literally letting the POTUS do what he wants & it goes largely unchecked, which in turns encourages the corrupt behavior.
Like I said, these numb nuts in the media LOUDLY demand access to the White House so they can literally stand there while he falls asleep on camera and say absolutely nothing about it.
During Watergate, 69 people from Nixon’s staff were charged with crimes. Unless the current judges start doing the same, Trump’s White House will continue to ignore them.
Start showing some fucking teeth or this country is done. Constitutional crisis is an understatement.
Between Trump threatening Iran w/annihilation and Netanyahu bragging about Israel’s pager attacks, the UN podium has become a venue for promoting genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes
Imagine the arrogance of empire required to stand at the United Nations and publicly contemplate the annihilation of another sovereign nation.
Not in a secret war room. Not behind closed doors. From the podium supposedly dedicated to peace and international law.
This is imperialism without the diplomatic mask.
Washington reserves for itself the right to bomb, sanction, threaten and decide which nations are permitted a future, while demanding that the rest of humanity respect its “rules based order.”
The problem is no longer the hypocrisy. The problem is a world system in which one power believes it has the right to decide who may live in peace and who may be driven into hell.
Donald Trump’s maniacal rant before the UN General Assembly today, complete with ridiculous braggadocio, narcissistic puffery, an almost unbroken line of absurd, demonstrable lies, open criminality, and deranged, murderous threats, should awaken even the most cowardly and complicit among world leaders that their attempts at appeasement of Trump and the tyrannical Axis that he leads can only result in further aggression, economic terrorism, murder, and genocide. The world must unite to counter the threat and to defend peace, human rights, and the rule of law, which are, after all, declared purposes of the UN.
It's always strange how the US uses its unparalleled military and economic power to strangle and suffocate the economies of small nations it dislikes, then points to the intended devastation as proof that those countries are bad and don't work, with no reference to the US role.
I just want to point out… the amount of money the U.S. has spent on war in the last 2.5 months is roughly the same cost that Bernie Sanders proposed for universal college. So the real question is never ‘can we afford it’… it’s what we choose to prioritize.
Gosh, if only there were some kind of professional organization for White House journalists that existed to advocate for the First Amendment and defend the freedom of the press. They could organize together as a united front against Trump's censorship. That would be something.
