In 1823, at the Battle of Nowshera, Maharaja Ranjit Singh wanted to wait for his artillery. But Akali Phoola Singh, head of the Budha Dal and commander of the Nihangs, stood firm. He declared that the Ardaas made before Akal Purakh was a vow that could not be broken. Even if it meant defying the Maharaja, he led the Nihangs into battle, embraced martyrdom rather than retreat, and won.

In 2025, the same spirit came alive. The government failed to handle the floods and left people to suffer but Sikhs did not wait. They ignored the incompetence of rulers and fulfilled their Ardaas of ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ rescuing families, serving langar, saving animals, and standing shoulder to shoulder with every victim.

This is not charity. This is the Khalsa showing what real governance looks like.
