TJ Devine, principal at JC Lynch Elementary in Florence 3, brings excitement to the academic goal setting process with a weekly WIG (Wildly Important Goal) Run. Students who meet their weekly academic goal run with Mr. Devine down the hallway and conclude by calling out their names on the PA system. Students love the WIG Run more than candy, extra recess, or a star on a behavior chart. @TheLeaderinMe@chad_d_smith #tlim

The Powerful Gift of #Bilingualism/#Multilingualism
Some emergent bilinguals feel embarrassed or less than for acquiring a new language. BUT they shouldn’t.
They are our future global leaders! Let them know how special & important this human capital is.
I had to fight back tears when my students who typically struggle with comprehension spent 30 minutes describing their text, making props, discussing characters, and excitedly showing their understanding of the story!

Attendance:
When your child misses one day of school, they miss a HUGE amount of understanding. Teachers cannot just send home work to "make up" for that lost time. Teaching addition, for example is not as simple as saying "2 +2= 4" and having students copy it down.
